I absolutely couldn't live without this stuff! I'm 39 years old and still continue to have problems with breakouts. When used on a regular basis, this treats and controls pimples. If used too often it will cause dry skin and peeling, as most acne products will; I just don't use it more than once or twice daily, and continue to moisturize well. Hits the Spot, but Be Careful in the Sun.
This gel is a great spot treatment and works better than any salicylic acid product I've used. However, it does dry out the skin and I would recommend using a high SPF sunscreen if you are going in the sun. This summer when I began to use it it worked wonders on my acne, but if I did not reapply sunscreen during the day I got horrible dermatitis that lasted for about 3 days. Amazingly Effective!
First of all, finding a drugstore product with benzoyl peroxide is tough. I gave it a try after trying almost everything else for my skin. The morning after, an incredible difference! I finally had some ammunition against my breakouts! (Warning: Does have a bleaching effect on sheets!) Works better than anything else I've tried
Works okay, and better than the myriad of other products I've tried, but it still doesn't really get rid of my breakouts. Just tones them down a little. I still use it, because slightly-tamed breakouts are better than no control whatsoever. For me, it only works in conjunction with a facial scrub and toner. This is the last thing I put on. my doc recommended this after a rx began to cause skin problems, so I tried it. I rated this a 5 because it is strong and it was recommended by my doc, but it definitely dried out my skin to an unacceptable degree. I am also highly suspicious of the long term pore clogging effects of the inert ingredients. clearing up acne is nominal if the long term effect is even worse skin. Good, good...........
I gave this product an 8 because it just kind of soaked into my pimples and dried them out but didn't do anything else. I took a whole 2 days just to shrink a pimple! However, when I applied it to a painful pimple on my back before bed, the pimple was gone by the time I woke up! And the price of this product is great!
