10 Coffee Alternatives to Start Your Morning Off RightAlmond milk latte? Who's she? |
There's an opportunity to get creative with teas when exploring coffee alternatives. Bowerman says that having a cuppa of rooibos is an excellent way to start the day. It is sometimes known as "red bush tea" because it is made from the leaves of a South African shrub. The red-brown tea has a woodsy aroma and a slightly sweet taste — and the clincher is, it doesn't get bitter even with extended brewing.
Rooibos is also a good source of antioxidants, like other plants — but it stands out because it's abundant in aspalathin. According to Bowerman, it's unique to rooibos and is anti-inflammatory, plus it aids with immune function and it helps support normal blood sugar ranges.
