Moisture-Packed Balm for Baby-Soft Lips
I am completely fickle when it comes to lip balm, but now that the weather is turning colder, I'm going to order another First Aid Beauty "Ultra Repair Lip Therapy." I don't like the price--$12.00!!--but the benefits exceed the heft price tag. I may frown when I hand over my debit card, but I do it nonetheless. This is no ordinary lip balm. It is crammed with lip-loving ingredients. Shea butt...read moreer moisturizes and provides a barrier against harsh elements; wonderful, powerful gylcerin does the same. Colloidal oatmeal soothes, dimethicone softens, and jojoba and grape seed oils are additional emollients. Squalane is yet another lipid to inhibit dryness; it used to be derived from sharks (thus, the name), but now is also taken from plants. Allantoin is known for its ability to treat and prevent rough, dry, itchy skin. Hyaluronic acid is a popular ingredient included for a good reason--it locks moisture into fluid-filled spaces between cells, keeping skin plumped. I love the container with its slanted tip and opening (keeps your hands clean and the product sanitary). I don't need to reapply often, and this handles my worst dry pouts with care but also quickly, leaving my lips dewy and comforted. The gentle mint scent is a plus. Say hello to hydration with First Aid's potent formula. This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

My favorite lip balm
First Aid Beauty (FAB) is a brand of skincare products I discovered about a year ago. I have found that their products seem to be more natural than many others, without extra chemicals and such. My experience has been that they make great products for moisturizing and protecting the skin. They are pretty no frills when it comes to packaging with simple plastic bottles and tubes. The Ultra Repai...read morer Lip Therapy comes in a 1/2 oz white plastic squeeze tube which retails for $12. The ingredients are: -Colloidal Oatmeal: Soothes skin. -Shea Butter: Moisturizes and provides barrier protection. -Glycerin: Moisturizes and protects the skin. -Dimethicone: Softens the skin. Diisostearyl Malate, Microcrystalline Wax, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Glyceryl Diisostearate, Dimethicone, Flavor (Aroma), Glycerin, Triisostearin, Colloidal Oat Flour, Tocopherol, Squalane, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene, Water, Allantoin, Chrysanthemum Parthenium (Feverfew) Extract, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract , Hyaluronic Acid. This lip treatment is supposed to hydrate, nourish, and protect the lips; and that is exactly what it does. It has a screw top lid and a slanted smooth plastic tip with a little hole where the product can be squeezed out. It is a thick lip balm consistency and you definitely have to apply a fair amount of pressure to get it to squeeze out. It's a milky colored thick balm but when applied to the lips it easily smoothes over the lips and provides a very slight tingle. It gives my lips a moist, healthy look but not glossy or shiny. I find that this lip treatment does provide a protective barrier on my lips but that it also seems to absorb into my lips providing true hydration instead of just sitting on the surface coating them. There is no scent that I notice and I often apply lipstick over it with great success. I spend time at our ranch where I'm outside most of the day, and since it is at a very high altitude it is extremely dry there and I find that I need constant hydration to my skin and lips. I always keep a tube of FAB Ultra Repair Lip Therapy in the pockets of my jackets at the ranch because I really can't be without it there. I have tried a lot of lip balms and treatments over the years and many of them feel gross on my lips, form a waxy coating, or actually dry out my lips. This product is one of the few I have found that really does deeply moisturize my lips and also protects them from further damage. I love that I can even apply lipstick over it with good results. Another nice quality of this lip treatment is that it has a very gender neutral packaging so my son likes using it too. It's a great lip balm to use all year, but in the winter or when I'm at my ranch in a dry climate, I just can't be without it.This review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 3 people said helpful
