Another miss with Nyx!

I am a makeup shopping addict. I don't care if it's super expensive or super cheap, if I hear good things about a product, then I want to give it a try. I love the premise of Nyx; an affordable line of quality cosmetics that gives drug store brands a run for their money. Normally I have had bad luc...read morek with Nyx lipsticks/glosses in the past and I was hesitant because normally Matte lipsticks do NOT go on me very well. I decided to give this a try (at least if I didn't like it, I could always return it back to Ulta). I got the super bright fuchsia pink MLS 02 (because I love bold colors). What I love about this lipstick is that it's VERY pigmented (as with any Nyx products which is what I love about them). However, my lips are VERY pigmented, and this lipstick isn't nearly as pigmented to cover my lips evenly, even with primers. it's not so matte (Which I kind of like). It's more of a semi-matte rather than a full matte (there is a tiny bit of shine). I like semi-matte textures because they tend to go onto lips a little better. What I did NOT like is that this, along with other Nyx lipsticks, do not go on very evenly on my lips. I get a lot of "clumping" with this lipstick and it feathers very easily. Also, it "peels" off any time I press my lips together. I have been extremely disappointed with Nyx lip products overall. I play around with makeup a LOT and I made sure to exfoliate my lips prior to applying makeup; but also I've tried applying this lipstick on top of bare lips, on top of lip primer, on top of eyeshadow primer (a make up artist tip for truer pigmentation!) and on top of lip liner (blended on top of the entire surface of my lips), and I received similar results. I did get the better results when I used it on top of lip liner that had been blended all throughout the surface of my lips (Which also gave it the most matte effect). In the low-down, the norm continues that myself personally cannot pull off matte lipsticks, let alone Nyx lipsticks in general. I know that many women cannot pull off matte lipsticks (especially those with lips prone to dryness). From my experience, matte lipsticks photograph beautifully but in person they do not often appear as nicely. I wish I could be like other women who have had nothing but praise for Nyx lipsticks and who can wear them beautifully. However, it's just not for me.

Colors are not true.....

I couldnt find any matte lipstick available at any drugstore but when i heard about the reviews on this i had to try it out. The colors look really pretty in the packaging but as soon as you put it on i swear its not the same color. I wanted a nude pink color and bought this in Pale Pink. I had to pull and tug on my lips just to get some color on. It settled into the ridges and cracks of my lips. I know people boast about their highly pigmented affordable makeup but this is just too pigmented for my taste. Even when i just dab it on its still too bright. I had no other choice but to return this.

Great matte lipstick

There is a lot to like about this lipstick. The only two drawbacks are that it is difficult to buy online because there is no color description and it is not as long lasting as other mattes I've tried. It did not last through lunch--the outline was perfect, but wore on the inner part of my lips. This lipstick is super inexpensive and great for experimenting with new colors or very bold or trending colors you will not be wearing often. It had no taste or scent that I detected. I plan to purchase this lipstick again in Alabama and other colors. Love!

so disappointed

I've been curious to try NYX lipsticks for a while. I've read many good reviews here, plus their website makes it extremely easy to rule out shades that won't work by providing detailed descriptions saying whether the color is blue-, orange-, yellow- or pink-based, (or neutral). I ...read morewas actually looking for their Extra Creamy Round, but the store I was in didn't have it, so I decided to try this because the Pale Pink was the exact on-trend pastel pink I was looking for. Unfortunately, it looked awful when I put it on. You know that white zinc oxide sunblock? It looked like that, tinted pink. I tried it both with and without a moisturizing concealer on my lips. It's such a shame, because when I held the lipstick up in front of my face the color looked absolutely exquisite against my skin. If only it had looked that good ON my lips.

Cheap & Worth it!

I'm a strict Mac Cosmetic buyer but I try NYX here and there and this matte lipstick turned out great! I did have to reapply after eating or drinking occasionally but otherwise it last pretty well. The color did appear lighter than I had hoped but for 5 or 6$ I'll buy more!

Super bold colors

I bought this product just the other day and was very pleasantly surprised. For the most part it stays on very well despite not being a stain, and it comes in many pretty, bold colors. Definitely recommend.

I guess im the only one that likes these

I love these matte lipsticks simply because they are soo affordable for people who dont want to go blow 16-20 dollars on a high end brand lipstick, yes the colors are a little different than they appear but the quality is really nice. With these lipsticks you really have to focus on undertones in the lipstick because they tend to really show out for example the pinks have a little bit of a lilac l...read moreavender undertone if you pay the undertones a lot of attention youll figure out how to wear these. my favorite ones are merlot and sweet pink. They last really long some of the lighter color do tend to look a little chalky but if you glaze a little lipgloss over it they look stunning. Of course these lipsticks arent for everyone but personally i love these, Most people dont dont want to go pay over 10 dollars for a temporary lipstick just because its matte and lets be real it is really hard to find a true matte lipstick for low price. I say if you are looking for good quality cheap matte lipstick and are tired of paying high high prices for lipstick these are way to go. I wear these all the time they last pretty much all day the nude shades dont really do good for me but the other colors are really good. I say dont knock it till you try it they are a little deceiving to the eye because the color in the tube looks a little different on the lips thats the problem alot of people have with these. They are not the BEST out there but theyre worth the buy.

NYX Matte Lipstick

The only problem I have ever had with any NYX lipstick, including the matte line, was the assortment of shades. I have found them to be either mostly dark or very bright and unflattering. The cream lipsticks feel good but don't seem to last. I happen to like Strawberry Daiquiri, the only NYX matte lipstick shade that works on me. It looks good, feels good, and lasts. It is blendable with othe...read morer lipsticks as well to achieve a particular color and finish. There are a lot of other NYX products I like as well. The quality is professional and the prices are drug store competitive.
