Overpriced and mediocre

I have this in Cherry. It smells like cherry Chapstick and tints my lips about the same amount--which is to say it hardly shows up, even when you layer it on. I guess "NATURAL" would be a nice way to describe the effect. It does moisturize decently, and keeps my lips feeling comfortable for awhile, but it's nothing particularly amazing. The formula feels slightly nicer than Chapstick, but it's not...read more significantly different enough to warrant the ridiculous seven dollar price tag. There are so many alternatives--if you MUST have a tinted balm from Burt's Bees, get one of their tinted shimmer shades. Or buy another brand (Alba Botanicals makes great tinted balms that even have SPF and are much cheaper). And for a company that seems to be "green" and "natural" I'm really surprised by the excess packaging that Burt's Bees used on this product.

Okay, but I'm not in love...

I have this in "Red Dahlia" and "Hibiscus"... What I do like very much about these is that they really do feel very natural on the lips... The first time I put one of these on, I really thought I was going to fall in love. I don't know how to explain it... It's like when I was very young and had tried "Nivea" balm for the first time... I liked it so much that I couldn't stop putting it on my lips every five minutes, and I would spend a good 30 seconds applying it... So I always had to wipe of the excess around the corners of my mouth, which (oddly) still didn't stop me from using it constantly... Anyway, this is how I felt with this one only after a couple of applications... I would put only a little bit on and I still had to kind of rub off the excess around my lips... Don't really know why that is, because I know nothing about the science behind it... If I were to try and explain it, I'd say that the oils and the colour in this formulation are not well "homogenized", if I can use that word in this context. As if they separate from each other after a while and the colour kind of stays on the outer edges of your lips... So that's really what stops me from loving it, and due to the fact that this balm cost around $7, I can't recommend it to anyone, because I believe that you can get better for that price...

Love it.

As a mom with an odd, super pale, with warm undertones complexion: I find lipstick looks insane on me. But these are so nice!! On first swipe they don't deposit much colour, you might as well be putting chapstick on (which is great when I'm in a pinch for some) but you can layer the colour and it doesn't get clumpy or messy. I love the light natural tint I get, and the fact that they moisturize like a balm.

so-so

The price seemed steep considering it's just a tinted balm. But the product itself was fine. Nothing special.

Did they change the yellow packaging for this....

I love tinted lip balm since lipstick is too color heavy for me but for me this lip balm just didn't cut it. My coworker recommended this brand. It was too dry and wouldn't even rub off on my lips, almost like I was applying a candlestick!

Not that tinted

I really like the results of this balm. It leaves my lips feeling smooth and taken care of. The formula is truly top notch. That being said, you will be disappointed if you are expecting a big color pay off. Even using the darkest color, I didn't see any real difference on my lips, which was very disappointing given how the product is marketed. I also think this is way over priced. At $6-$7 a stic...read morek, I would rather buy a lipstick. It is for these reasons that I am giving this a lower star rating despite the fact that I like the product. If you get it on sale, then it is worth purchasing.

Nice and smooth . . .

I like the feeling on my lips that Burt's tinted lip balm gives me and love the fragrance. It lasts as long as any of the other products I have tried and gives a nice tint to my lips. My issue with this product is the price; it's too high for lip balm in my opinion.

Whoa!

This balm is great! Hands down my favorite so far. It moisturizes, it's tasteless (so there's no temptation to lick my lips and chap them), the color is subtle, it's all natural, and I love the packaging! Emphasis on the moisturizing bit; this balm would last for hours and even when it did fade away, my lips are soft with a nice natural color.

I love these.

I bought a couple of these around the same time the lip butters came out and the LOreal balms. Compared to the balms these baby's give off way more color, feel smooth on the lips without felling heavy, and they don't taste like icky sunscreen. They are great for when you don't want to wear lipstick or gloss. For all of those who are saying they aren't that tinted, I don't get it. But I have about ...read moremedium to light natural pigmentation to my lips, so they show up very well on me. They are a bit pricy but compared to some lesser balms on the market, they actually cost less. Plus you get the natural ingredients Burt's Bees is known for! I highly recommend you try at least one.

Disappointed in Color

I have this in Red Dahlia and Hibiscus. The formula is light and hydrating but the tint leaves a whole lot to be desired. I was really hoping the Red Dahlia color would leave a flush on my lips, like I was eating raspberries or something. The color is almost completely sheer, hardly any tint at all. The Hibiscus color shows up orange and its quite unflattering. I am seriously disappointed in both balms. If I could, I would return them.
