I Ousted Outlast!

After much commercial hype about this, I was anxious to try it. At the time I was the "Drugstore Deals Reviewer" for a major online beauty site. The colors were lovely; I chose a few and puckered it. My mouth remained puckered. The formula dried it so badly that I felt like I was in a bad dream. Unless you are will to continually coat lips with a powerful gloss, run--don't walk--away from this stain!

Didn't like the taste

It stained the lips like it should, but it left an AWFUL taste on my lips. I'm one to compulsively lick my lips and it was awful. The colors aren't very desirable to my taste; I'd prefer something else. It's basically like using a marker on your lips. I didn't use this after one or two times, waste of my money.

Very Good.

My friend got two of the same lipstains (#400). We're both really different, she's pretty pale compared to me and our lips have different pigmentations. This color comes off very pretty, like a very dark pink, but not quite red. Also, it leaves my lips feeling dry even if I've put lipbalm before. There is also a weird taste if I do lick my lips, like a bittersweet taste. I don't think I will repurchase, but it is kinda of great if I have to run and go. It's very buildable but kind of hard to blend out if put on already. I've had mine for about a year now...I have only used it sparingly though because I forgot I had it. I only tried this once for one hour. The color stays even after taking shower, I had to take it off with makeup remover. I don't like how it feels when you put it on. it feels like you are drawing lines on ur lips with a marker. It is not shiny at all. if you add a lip gloss on top of it, it looks nice. I am not sure if it will last all day with eating and drinking. but it looked like it will. i tried rubbing the color off with my finger and it didn't come off at all. its one of those things which u might really love or really hate. Reapplying lip color constantly is such a pain! I thought this product might be a good alternative but I was rather disappointed. I bought the cinnamon color and have since tried applying it in different ways. The first problem is that it is not color true. The box suggests it's a nice nude brown but if you test it on your skin or apply to your lips it quickly turns into a dark red. Very startling! If the stain is applied lightly the color change is less dramatic but it sure doesn't stay brown. This was something I tested on four friends with different skin tones and it happened to all of them. I don't know if the other stains are color true but it is something to be aware of. The second issue is that despite being a 'stain' the color doesn't last. Applied without gloss or anything else on my lips it wears off fairly quickly if I don't eat or drink. If I do eat or drink it vanishes almost immediately. Applying gloss over the top makes it go even faster. My friends had similar experiences. Honestly, I might as well just use lip liner which (for me) lasts just about as long. The third negative is the way it goes on. It is not like a lipstick where you have a solid, rich color. Applied lightly it gives a tint of color which can be very pretty and natural looking. You can also layer it for a deeper color. Unfortunately, the color still remains patchy unless you really work to blend it in. Getting an even application is really hard! I'm not sure if this is the fault of the product or the applicator. Finally, the lip stain magnifies dryness no matter how much or little you wear. Adding a layer of gloss, either before or after, doesn't help and makes the lip stain wear off much faster. Only one of my friends seemed not to experience what we dubbed the lip shrivel. It did look very nice on her but one out of five isn't all that great. I don't think I will buy again or test other lip stains by Cover Girl. I might test other brands but my hope aren't high.

Terrible!

The Outlast Lip Stain dried my lips out terribly! It also did not stay on as I would have liked. If you to try a great lip stain, try Tarte's lips stains. :)

Great for Summer

This is a great product for summer. The shades are light and bright - they really pack a punch! The product also feels very light on the lips, has a nice scent, and a nice taste. That being said, they can be a bit drying and don't last too terribly long. If your lips are not super moisturized, the product tends to end up in a ring around your lips and look like bad lip liner. I did find that a basic lip balm after product use helps extend the life of the product on your lips and helps with the drying issue. This isn't my favorite product, but I certainly don't regret buying it. It is much better than the Revlon version.

To stain or not to stain!

Really this is a no brainer. This baby doesn't stain. I put it on in the morning (7:00) and by lunch time (11:00), it looked like I had never applied it. This was an "It" product by Allure. Really? You must be kidding me, because this is now in my makeup JUNK drawer.

Good Lipstain...

I like this lipstain because it comes in nice colours and the colour actually lasts. The con with these lipstains though is that the applicator sucks and it dispeneses really unevenly. Also quite drying on the lips so make sure to top it with a gloss or something to take away from the dryness.

Does what it should, less than ideal packaging.

For the first several weeks after my purchase of this lipstain, I was disappointed with it. I agree that the packaging is kind of a bummer, it’s difficult to get the stain to flow properly. Each time I use it, before removing the cap, I have to shake a bit liquid down into the lid which I kind of fish out with the felt tip pen. At this point, I find this concession acceptable because I’m now ...read moreconvinced the stain itself is quite good, and the one pen has lasted me quite awhile; I use it 3-4 times a week and I’m now on my 5th month. The color I have is 415, which is a bit dark, but vastly preferable to the two stain shades I bought from NYC. The color girl stain color is richer, and lasts much longer. If applied to clean dry lips, and allowed sufficient dry time, some of this color will remain on my lips even after a meal. I also appreciate that the color looks more like more like make-up and less like cool-aid mouth stain (a problem I’ve had with other brands). Also, I tend to combat the vibrancy of my freshly stained lips by applying a bit of lip crayon or lipstick over dry stain- by the time the top layer has worn off, the stain had mellowed out a bit to pleasing shade. Once the felt tip pen has stain on it, it’s pretty easy to maneuver; I’ve been able to apply it within a minute while sitting in my car plenty of times (parked though, because you need to see what you’re doing with stain!). I agree with other viewers that it doesn’t smell fantastic, but it certainly doesn’t smell bad, and I am happy to sacrifice a candied scent for longevity of wear. I caution you though, when shaking liquid out of these guys, keep the lid on! And start gently-I learned the hard way that it’s easier to get lipstain out of the pen than back into the pen! I’ll be buying this product again, because for the price, it performs very well.

Skip and Get the Maybelline One

This product sucks...no other description fits. The colors are way too deep, they don't last and they apply badly, lots of color in one spot but not enough in another. I'd give it NO stars if that was an option!
