House Party Injections Go Terribly Wrong Word to the wise: Don't get cosmetic procedures at a house party, or you might wind up looking deformed. That's what happen to a young Toronto woman, Jenna, who opted to get her lips done (twice!) by a completely unqualified individual who told her she was a nurse.
After experiencing two sessions at $200 a piece, Jenna was happy with the results. But, when she went back for a third time, things got ugly -- fast. Minutes after the procedure, her lips started to swell. The "nurse" put some dissolvent on the area, thinking that she may have overdone it with the filler.
An hour later, the swelling worsened and she experienced a blue discoloration on her chin area. She went to the ER, but was sent home because they assumed it was normal swelling that would eventually go down. When the swelling worsened even more, she visited a plastic surgeon who discovered that the filler was injected straight into a blood vessel, causing an obstruction in the lower lip. She was treated with hyaluronidase and nitropaste to enhance blood circulation, but the surgeon told her she might have lost her entire lower lip had she visited him just hours later.
