Gregory Arlt, Director of Makeup Artistry at MAC Cosmetics:

Hello I'm Gregory Arlt, the Director of Makeup Artistry from MAC Cosmetics. And I'm here with the lovely Gillian to show you one of my favorite easy, throw-it-on-and-go Halloween makeup looks and costumes. You're in a pinch, you don't know what to do: a cat.

I just used a little bit of foundation and powder in exactly her skin tone. So the first step with this look is to go with a little bit of a smoky eye. A very deep blackened gray with a little bit of metallic frost. I'm using this color all over the eyelid with a flat brush -- just the eyelid. And you really want to press it right into the eyelid just under the bone.

Take the same color with a fluffy brush. I'm going to take that brush and just lightly wing the eyes out, softening that hard line that we just did, so it has a sort of winged effect and really turns the eye upward like a cat.

So for this look we're going to do a very exaggerated cat eye liner. Start by taking the gel eyeliner and we're going to take it to a point and take that liner all the way across the top lash line. Taking it all the way out. And take that liner and we're going to extend it with this small brush all the way up into a perfect point. And the trick is now to come back down and fill that all in and just keep going until you get the exact depth you want.

So now we're going to come to the bottom and get your gel liner exactly onto the brush and come to that point. So now what we're going to do is connect the bottom into a really strong perfect point. And now the fun part. Finishing the line, come to a point underneath, take your liner and just go right underneath the eye and connect it to that outer wing. And just blend that gel liner right into the lash line. What I'm going to do now is recommend using a black pencil on the inner rim of the eye to make the eye look a little more exotic. I'm using that right on the waterline of the eye. At this point we're going to add a little bit of mascara. I'm just putting a little bit all through her lashes. If you want to add false lashes this is a great time to do it now. She doesn't need any, because her lashes are so nice and long. But you can add false lashes especially on the outer corners to really exaggerate that elongated eye.

Last but not least, the lips. So I was sort of inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman. And I loved how her lips looked like patent leather so I'm going to actually affect that look. What you can do with this. From here you can do a pale lip, you can do a glossy lip, you can do something pink. But I thought a nice patent vinyl red lip would look absolutely amazing and very sexy. So I'm using a bright red lip pencil and just following her natural lip line. I want her lips to have a little more rounded look, although with this as a cat, you can also do more of a pointy lip. And just following the natural shape.

If you want your lip pencil to really stay on all night, I recommend filling in pretty much your entire mouth with it. So now that we have the lip pencil on, let's go ahead and put some bright red lipstick right over it to really go for that glamour. And getting all up into the lip line. Great thing about filling in your mouth with a pencil is you know your lipstick is going to stay in all night. So now what I'm going to do is add a bright red shiny gloss. And you can actually touch up on this throughout the night and not worry about your lipstick.

If you wanted to even go further with that purrfect Halloween makeup look, you can add whiskers. So I'm going to use a little bit of that same gel liner that we used for her eyes with that same small brush and just give her some incredible cat whiskers. So I thought just three little whiskers on each side would be perfect and finally a little bit of a cat nose with your black gel liner.

And there she is: Feline-tastic.
