Like a Second Skin--But So Much Prettier!
It's not often that I use a fluid foundation, especially at this time of year, when I like to pare down my beauty routine and concentrate on fun and new, flattering brighter colors. Lancôme's Renergie Lift Makeup SPF 20 is an exception here--I use it in place of their "Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup" when I'm seeking a softer, more moisturized look. After experimenting with Hourglass Cosmet...read moreics' amazing "Ambient Lighting Powders," I moved on to some of their other products. Hourglass puts quality above everything. The hefty price tag justifies the purchase, even for those on a budget, as the products I've used have far exceeded the claims they have made. Recently I couldn't resist the lovely color of their "Veil Fluid Makeup SPF 15" in Ivory ($60.00 at Sephora), a light shade with the perfect pink undertone for my coloring. There are far more benefits besides the shade. The formula itself is very rich, yet completely oil-free. It has ingredients to support the body's natural ability to produce collagen, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and Skin Tightener ST™ PH to enhance your complexion's appearance (who couldn't love that?). It was shown to have a lifting effect on forehead furrows and wrinkles around the eyes. Moreover, Hourglass' Veil is created without harmful Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates, along with potentially irritating fragrances. The feel is luxurious and satiny, and a small amount does indeed go a long way. It will cover skin completely, disguising any imperfections quite well. Evidently the formula also contains ingredients to enhance illumination, as it gives me a lit-from-within glow which I love and is noticeable to others. I don't always use a foundation primer, and this stays in place for many long hours and through different conditions--cold, heat, and humidity. Worth it!
I got a sample of this product before purchasing it. I loved the oxygen mineral foundation and thought I would give this a try. I used very little of it on my face. It spreads nicely and gives a very satiny finish. I put the oxygen mineral powder over this foundation. As a result, I loved it. I wore it all day through a busy amusement park. Best Foundation I have tried
I normally wear Chanel or La Mer foundations, but I ad a makeover at Sephora in Las Vegas by an Hourglass rep. I had never tried any of the product, but was very impressed. Impressive
I gotta admit that I'm very impressed by this foundation, (actually by all the Hourglass products I've tried so far but that's another story...) I have a combination to oily skin that in hot weather tends to go to the oily side, and usually it's difficult for me to find a foundation that isn't too thick for summer, or way too matte, or not long lasting... I applied it one pump after my skin care routine and the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer, and on top I powdered ever so slightly with Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Ethereal Light. In terms of lasting power I realized that after 8h. I still had that natural satin finish on my face, and was only after 9 or 10h. that I could see shine on my forehead, nose (a lot), and chin. But only there in a hot, humid weather. Like I said impressive! For reference I'm NW20-NW25 in Mac and I got shade Porcelain when I saw it for the 1st time in my hand I thought It had a a tiny bit of yellow(ish) undertones and I was worried about it, but once applied and blended you can see yellow nowhere. Actually it seems to neutralize my pink undertones so well =) Let's talk about coverage. The official website says medium, but in my opinion it's more like light to medium I guess you can say it's build-able. But doesn't look cakey. It cover minor redness and blemishes. But If you are trying to cover more than that, I don't think this foundation is gonna do it. About the skin care benefits I think it's too soon to tell, what it's true is that you feel the skin soft and smooth. Bare in mind that every skin it's a different world and what works for me it might not work for you or viceversa. I love this foundation. I wear it everyday. A little does go a long way. Also it has little enhancers that makes your face look glowing. It is thick so sometimes I mix it with my day time moisturizer. It has excellent coverage without looking cakey. The smell is non existent and it is very smooth and silky. There are only a few shades so if the color does not match you cannot use this brand. I put it on with my fingers because I think when I use the foundation brush I have to use too much product. I put a light transcluencent powder over. If I am going out then I will brush some pressed powder over as well. Finally matched my color
I'm one of those people who's very hard to match, I'm of mixed race and was looking for over 2 months trying every product in Sephora and Nordstrom to no avail. This foundation in 4 beige was PERFECT!! It is also light but gives a very nice illumination to the skin. My co-workers saw a huge difference the moment I walked in to work wearing it. a little goes a long way
This foundation is fantastic. A little goes a long way - 1 pump is almost too much. I mainly use this as a concealer to hide my blemishes and dark spots and top off the look with a light dusting of Everyday mineral powder foundation. I have oily skin that is prone to breakouts and this has not caused me to break out at all. It's very effective at hiding imperfections and looks great as a full coverage foundation as well. Glowing
My favorite brand for complexion products. Not a huge fan of their concealers but the Veil Fluid Makeup is amazing! Converted me from a powder wearer. They recommend applying it using a foundation brush but I'm happy with the results just using my fingers. Worth the extra money.
I recently received a free sample of Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup, I really liked it so I set out to research this new makeup. First thing I learned is it's not cheap by any means.....$60 for 1 and a half ounces. I think we need to splurge on ourselves occasionally and this was my splurge. Every thing I read about it states..... that it contains Matrixyl which helps your body produce collagen ...read more(we can all use collagen) it also helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles (always a good thing). It is said to contain Skin Tightener ST to improve texture and promote younger looking skin, I thing everything can be improved on, even someone with flawless skin. Every since I was 16 (I'm now 43) I have been "lovingly" called a "greaser" because of my very oil skin so I was really happy to see that Hourglass Veil was oil-free, parabens-free, fragrance-free, and has SPF 15. I finally bought it and am now using it, my review of this foundation make up is.......it has a good texture once applied, the color match to my skin is perfect more so than ANY foundation I have ever used. Does the product live up to it's claim...yes to a certain degree, the one I don't know if we will ever see is the claim to help fight the signs of aging. The fountain of youth does not exist so no makeup can change aging maybe slow it down a bit. On length of wear...remember I said I have very very oily skin, you could but pure tar on my face and by 4:00 in the afternoon it will be sliding off my face so with a foundation makeup I am glad if I wash my face when I get home and see some kind of makeup appear on my washcloth and I see alot of this foundation still on after 4:00. Value for the money... I think it all in the eyes (or face) of each buyer. With my purchase of Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup I got what I expected (and I researched it before buying) and I like the makeup alot and I'd like to be able to buy it regularly but the steep price may keep me from buying it at times when money is tight.
