Taylor Swift Debuts Straight Hairstyle in New York City

Swift, pictured here with her trademark curls, opted for a different look when she went out in the city last night. The singer debuted pin-straight locks that were accented by shaggy bangs. Several media outlets reported to barely recognize her at first.

The singer is well known for her soft curls, and has a tendency to flip her hair around when she is performing. The new look offers a more sophisticated side to Swift, and may be a glamorous version of her girl-next-door appeal.

While Swift may be commended for trying something different, a recent poll on PopEater.com revealed that 58 percent of voters preferred Swift's signature hairstyle over the new smooth look.

However, the hairstyle may be simply for the sake of art. US Weekly reports that earlier in the day, Swift had tweeted that she was busy at a photo shoot in New York City.
