Snooki Charged for "Being Annoying" -- Were Her Pouf Hairstyles to Blame?

It's unbelievable how much a person of such unremarkable beginnings (sorry "Jersey Shore") is forever attributed to pop culture because of her outrageously high hairstyles and tanning routine. Snooki, the 4'9" reality TV star, is now noted in pop culture for yet another historical media moment: getting arrested for being annoying.

Yes, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has been officially charged today for being criminally annoying.

Should we be surprised?

The 22-year-old was arrested last month for being drunk in public -- so much so that she did a face plant on the Seaside Heights boardwalk when attempting to mount a bicycle.

In addition to the two previously charged misdemeanors of "disorderly conduct" and "being a nuisance," today the Seaside Heights Municipal Court tacked on a third charge of "annoying people." Leave it to Snooki to make a personality trait a criminal offense.

The "celebrity" is surprisingly pleading "not guilty" to all three charges.

Polizzi's attorney, Raymond Raya, declined to comment, but requested prosecutors give over all evidence that would be used against Polizzi.

"We look forward to preparing our defense," Raya said.

Uh, really?

How is he going to fight that one? With the endless amount of pictures and videos of Snooki being drunk (drinking out of a beer bong on the beach), disorderly (falling off of a bicycle and face planting on the boardwalk) and annoying (really -- how do you argue that?), I'd say the attorney's got his work cut out for him.

Snooki is expected in court to fight the charges on September 8th. I imagine the defense might go something like this:

Municipal Prosecutor: I'd like to show the court Exhibit A, a video of the defendant falling off of a bicycle, which obviously shows that the defendant was drunk off her …

Raya: Objection your honor. My client is 4'9" and clearly couldn't swing her leg over the bicycle to gain proper balance. She was not "drunk." This footage simply shows a bicycle store that needs to carry a variety of bicycles to meet the needs of their patrons.

If Snooki and team fail, she can face up to $2,000 in fines. However, since she has a clean record she may only be charged $500.

Seaside Heights Police arrested Polizzi on July 30th after being alerted by beachgoers who complained that she was "bothering them" according to Police Chief Thomas Boyd.

It's interesting that though Polizzi has been elevated into celebrity status (even Halloween costumes are made after her), the TV star may be somewhat of a celebrity antithesis: instead of being bothered by fans, she's reported to the police as the one bothering them.

In addition, designer labels and brand names are spending a lot of money to NOT be represented by the star. Throughout the first two seasons, Snooki, in all her pictures and footage of drunkenness, was always assisted by her Coach bag. Suddenly, she started carrying around a $900 Gucci handbag. The "New York Observer," however, notes that designer labels aren't the ones sending her their merchandise, but of their competitors' as they desperately scrambled to avoid being associated to the reality star.
