Emma Roberts' New Dark Hair and Copper Eye Makeup: Hit or Miss?

Young Hollywood was out in force last night as stars from the small and big screens hit the town for the 12th annual Teen Choice Awards. And, while vampires walked away with most of the trophies ("The Twilight Saga" snagged a whopping dozen), the pale skin and dark hair look was showcased by a starlet who's not typically perceived as "Goth" in the least.

Emma Roberts, Julia's 19 year-old niece, who's heretofore been known for her wholesome beauty and girl-next-door roles, debuted a new dark hairstyle and interesting copper eye makeup.

The erstwhile Nancy Drew, who's currently starring opposite Chase Crawford in an edgy role in the rich-kids-in-NYC-run-rampant-drama, "Twelve," has dyed her dirty blonde hair a deep shade of brown which made her super-pale, porcelain complexion seem even more alabaster.

The eye shadow in and of itself was interesting -- both in color and application -- with the shimmery copper shade encircling her entire eye. Add to that, extra-dark brows and long black lashes and the effect was dramatic to say the least.

Is this a new tactic for Roberts whose ABC Family Original Movie, "Wild Child," about a rebellious teen who gets shipped off to boarding school in Britain, debuted last night? Or was she hoping the look would prompt interviewers to ask about her style choice instead of the fact that her father, Eric Roberts, checked in to rehab last week?
