The singer, pictured here performing on tour as a blonde, was recently spotted in West Hollywood, California, with raven-colored hair- a look she hasn't worn since earlier this summer.

If you want to take a page out of Spears' book and go darker for the winter, fear not. You don't have to drop a wad of cash at a high-priced salon- you can dye your hair in the comfort of your own home.

Head down to your local drug store or beauty supplier and look for a semi-permanent at-home hair dyeing kit that will fade with washing. Enlist the help of a friend or expert to pick out a shade that suits you best. Simply follow the instructions on the box to mix the dye together.

Cover all your hair with the dye. Because it may stain, wear a ratty t-shirt and wrap an old towel around your neck.

Watch the clock and be sure to only leave the dye on your hair for the recommended time period. Afterwards, it's a good idea to use the special conditioner supplied in the kit to help keep hair looking healthy and shiny.
