"We're getting away from visible exterior layers," says Michelle Lee, co-owner and master designer of Salon Eva Michelle in Boston. "Creating the layers inside the hair allows for more movement." Thank you for mentioning the donation of hair. I try to mention it when I can, but never knew the different lengths asked for. Also, some area hairdressers will actually sometimes be able to do it too.

I've wanted to have "mermaid hair" for years. My hair is super thick but never grows past mid-back. I finally got over the super long hair and wear mine a couple inches below the collarbone. It really does look better on me and it looks thicker. Great article!
