Baby oil is a perfumed mineral oil that's typically used to seal in moisture to a baby's skin after bathing. Did you know that it can be used in a pinch in your beauty routine? Keep reading for ways to use this miracle product, including putting baby oil in your hair.
Baby oil in hair helps smooth and condition your locks
Removing Makeup/Double-Cleansing
If you're tired of spending money on pricey makeup removers, give baby oil a try. It's extremely effective at removing the most stubborn makeup. Just apply the oil to a cotton pad and swipe it over the makeup you're trying to remove.
If you want to try double-cleansing your face, use baby oil as the first step. Simply massage a small amount of oil into your skin (bonus: it removes makeup at the same time!), rinse and then wash your face with your usual product.
Shaving
If you want the best shave of your life, you have to try shaving with baby oil. It reduces the risk of rashes, bumps and cuts; is inexpensive; and, as a bonus, you won't need to moisturize afterward!
To try this method, just smooth a small amount of baby oil over your legs and shave as usual. Pro tip: wash your hands before grabbing your razor for a better grip. Also be careful in the tub; it can get slippery!
Repair Your Hair
Baby oil in your hair? No need to worry - it won't make you look like an oil slick. It's actually amazing at repairing dry, split ends!
The trick to doing this correctly is to not directly apply baby oil in your hair. Now, that's a recipe for a weighed-down, greasy mess. Instead, apply the baby oil to a tissue or cotton pad, let it soak in a bit and then apply it on the ends of your hair. They'll instantly look smoother and healthier.
While we're on the topic of hair, we have to squash a common myth. Putting baby oil in your hair will NOT make it grow faster!
Say Goodbye to Flyaways
Don't you hate those pesky pieces of hair that just won't behave? They just stick straight up and ruin the best of hair days. Thankfully, a little baby oil in your hair will take care of that in no time. Rather than apply baby oil straight to your hair, you'll want to use the same technique as the last trick. Apply some to a cotton pad, wait a minute and then, very lightly - as lightly as possible - smooth over the top of your hair.
Condition Makeup Brushes
Your makeup brushes are some of the most important tools in your makeup arsenal, so you want to make sure to take good care of them. Part of doing so involves a good conditioning routine.
We recommend washing once per week and only conditioning every other week since doing it more often than that will leave the bristles too soft.
To use baby oil for this method, start by cleaning your brushes. Next, put a little baby oil in your palm and swirl the brush around. You want to apply just enough baby oil to coat the bristles with a fine layer. Rinse with warm water, squeeze out the excess and lay flat to dry.
