What Happened to Aquafina Lip Balm?

If you loved the fresh flavors of Pepsi's lip balm line, you may wonder where it's gone

In 2011, we fell in love with Aquafina lip balm. This licensed product line was based on the tantalizing flavors of Pepsi's bottled water brand. Ahead, learn what happened to Aquafina lip balm. If you're missing it like we are, you'll also discover where you can still purchase this discontinued product.

Aquafina: Yes, They Made Lip Balm
Aquafina is a popular bottled water produced by PepsiCo. Sparkling and non-sparkling water varieties come in flavors such as wild berry, raspberry, strawberry, mango and dragon fruit.

It may be strange to think of a bottled beverage company producing cosmetics, but this follows suit with the soda-flavored lip balms Pepsi has produced from time to time. The Aquafina lip balms embraced the bottled water flavors, such as kiwi. Just like a refreshing sip of flavored water, this lip balm has a sweet and refreshing flavor while giving your lips a boost of moisture that lasts for hours. Many users report that the lip balm is extremely hydrating.

As part of Aquafina's larger Advanced Hydration skin care line, the product uses a technology called QuSomes, described as "microscopic water balloons that are made up of many layers." When your lips absorb one layer of moisturizer, it is physically connected to another layer and another, which are eventually absorbed as well. This process continues to keep your lips feeling softer for a longer period of time. QuSomes are also known for their anti-aging effects.

Where Did It Go?
There seems to be a lapse in information as to what happened to the Aquafina skin care line, including the lip balm. Aquafina's official website makes absolutely no mention of the product.

We may, however, be able to piece together some semblance of an explanation. In 2007, the company met with criticism over product labeling of bottled water that did not clearly indicated that the water came from public sources. Basically, it was purified tap water rather than being sourced from natural springs.

It was in 2009 that the internet first started buzzing with talk of Aquafina's skin care line. With questions as to the water sources fresh in mind, some reviewers felt like it wasn't the best time for Pepsi to dive into a completely new market. The lip balm may have faded out of production as PepsiCo focused on branding and distributing its bottled beverages.

Find Your Aquafina Lip Balm Here
Aquafina lip balm is no longer available from major retailers, so Amazon and eBay are your resources for continuing to indulge in this product. The products are sold by individuals, so prices may vary, but you can likely find a pack of lip balm in one of your favorite fruity flavors for a reasonable cost.
