We all knew it would happen sooner or later: Summer is coming to an end. But instead of piling on graphic prints and bright colors in a desperate attempt to hold onto the season, celebs are taking the more mature route and bidding it adieu with all-black ensembles.
When it comes to fashion you can eat, Ring Pops pretty much top our list. That is, until we saw these insanely fashionable food items. From purse cakes that could be passed off as the real thing to a dress made entirely out of artichokes, these edible pieces make a statement. Besides being an impressive art form (replicating a Chanel purse out of beef jerky is as hard as it sounds) these food-as-fashion finds prevent your blood sugar from getting too low and couldkeep you alive on a deserted island. Fashion has never looked so good.
Last weekend, one of my friends boldly announced, "I'm just going to say it. Snakeskin is the new neutral." I couldn't wrap my head around it. I have long since reserved the whole "patterns as a neutral" category for cheetah print and cheetah print alone. But as I started going back through fashion week coverage, and the more editorials I flipped through, I saw it. Snakeskin is everywhere -- and for good reason. Whether you wear it in bold colors or subtle neutrals, snakeskin does go with just about anything, and it adds an element of luxe. Even simple jeans and a T-shirt can get an update from a small snakeskin accessory like a bracelet or scarf. Here, eight examples to make you a believer.
Even though I have an extensive jewelry collection, I wear maybe three to five pieces on the regular. And that's not because I don't love my baubles and bling. It's because currently my necklaces, bracelets, watches and rings are in tangled heaps on top of my dresser, at the bottom of my jewelry box and in miscellaneous boxes piled out of my reach.
We admit it: For the sake of beauty, we're willing to put ourselves through a lot. Stinging lasers in the name of line-free skin, hair-ripping wax for a smooth visage and scalp-burning bleach for lighter locks -- these practices don't raise any eyebrows 'round these parts. But, everyone has to draw the line somewhere. When it comes to crazy, over-the-top, real-people-wouldn't-dream-of-wearing-them shoes, we put our foot down.
Confession time: I'm one of those people who got a tattoo when she was younger and grew to regret it shortly thereafter. (What can I say? I'm impulsive.) So when I first started seeing metallic temporary tattoos on the music festival circuit and at the beach, I was enthralled. There are now dozens of designs of these shimmery gold, black and silver tattoos in every pattern you could want. These metallic tattoos can be worn as body art or eerily realistic-looking jewelry. Most products last four to six days and rub off with ease using coconut oil or baby oil. And each tattoo comes on a sheet with multiple styles, so you can cut up the designs and remix them however you like.
Designer Roland Mouret is known for dressing some of the most glamorous celebrities in Hollywood in curve-hugging, ultra-flattering outfits. So it's no surprise that his new collaboration with Banana Republic, launching August 7, features elegant, fitted and (suprisingly) work-appropriate finds --think sheath dresses and pencil skirts. The best part? Prices range from $49.50 to $140, meaning your fall wardrobe can get an update on a budget.
We're pretty fond of stealing looks from the boys -- oversized blazers, boyfriend jeans, motorcycle jackets -- and women's clothing lines are following suit. Oxfords, brogues and saddle shoes are popping up everywhere, and much like this summer's Birkenstock trend, they're stylish and comfortable. Embrace the look with other menswear separates or put a girly twist on the trend with a heeled, metallic pair. Whichever you choose, here's your style inspiration.
When New York Fashion Week happens, we get all excited for the gorgeous fashions coming our way ... months from now. The fall shows came and went this past February, and since then, we've waited anxiously for this moment: When the designer looks are finally available. These fall/winter 2014-2015 print ad campaigns are every bit as momentous an unveiling as the clothes themselves. And we are giddy from what we're seeing. With whimsical forest scenes, out-of-this-world space motifs and our favorite supermodels -- these are the print ad campaigns we'll be pinning to our inspiration boards.

The cure for a balmy, sweltering summer: refreshing pineapple prints. This season, bold graphic patterns have hijacked our wardrobes, and taken us straight to the tropics. Dreamy palm fronds and luscious summer fruit are giving us a serious case of island fever. Our favorite fruit-print phenomenon right now, the pineapple, is popping up on scarves, iPhone cases, totes and every accessory you can think of. Adorable, whimsical and breaths of fresh air, they're everything we look for in our summer statement pieces. With brands like J. Crew, Kate Spade and Ann Taylor embracing the pineapple trend, we're sure to see even more sophisticated takes on this pretty, of-the-moment pattern.
Note to self: start working on my abs now, because next year's swimsuits just showed at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week: Swim in Miami, and they're looking as itsy-bitsy as ever. And while I'm at it, I'm going to be bathing in vats of the best self-tanners, because a golden glow is the perfect accessory to some of these bright, patterned swimsuits.
If you haven't heard of "shooties" yet, let us fill you in. A shootie is a cross between a high heel and an ankle boot -- or a full-coverage high heel if you want to think about it that way. And they go with everything. Pair shooties with a blazer and jeans like one of our favorite fashion bloggers did for a super polished casual Friday look. Or, wear a pair of completely badass metallic-accented shooties like the pairs we saw at multiple Fashion Week shows to give a little black dress some major attitude. Need more convincing that your closet is missing out in a big way? Here, eight very compelling reasons you'll want to hightail it to the mall ASAP.
There are a handful of seasonal trends that we can predict -- pastels in spring, jewel tones in fall. Bright prints aren't exactly groundbreaking for summer, but this time around, celebs aren't just hitting the red carpet in expected floral, traditional stripes or one-dimensional polka dots. They're wearing bold graphic prints, unusual shapes and mixing quirky patterns with even crazier ones. The end result? Head-turning, memorable looks we never saw coming.
Rompers, playsuits, jumpsuits … call 'em what you want, they're hard to pull off. A one-piece outfit is great in theory -- you can throw it on and go, and you don't have to worry about having a Marilyn-Monroe moment on a windy day. Add floral prints, frills and bows to that outfit, and you're creeping into "Toddlers & Tiaras" territory. Luckily, there are plenty of chic, fashion-forward rompers out there that are breezy, functional and, most importantly, won't make you feel like a preschooler.
After watching all the spring/summer 2014 runway shows from New York Fashion Week I could have kicked myself. I instantly regretted giving away my collection of leather, denim and brightly colored backpacks from my school years. That being said, mine weren't nearly as sleek as the reimagined accessories gracing the arms of celebrities and fashion bloggers today. These chic backpacks will have you wondering if you really need that giant purse that weighs you down and gives you a crick in your neck. Newsflash: you don't. Because a trendy new backpack will fit everything you need (including your emergency flats) and will do so in an effortlessly stylish way. Here's proof.
In case you need additional proof that the '90s are back -- we're suddenly lusting after choker necklaces .... again (and Birkenstocks and backpacks ...
Did you know that three out of five women would rather have a Pap smear every day for a week than wear a triangle top bikini in public? Probably not, because I made that up, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were true. Even if you are totally cool displaying swaths of skin to the sun and your fellow man -- comfort and freedom of movement aren't hallmarks of itsy-bitsy two-pieces. (Just try diving into a strong wave if you don't believe us.)
The words "resort wear" tend to mislead people when it comes time for yet another season of ubiquitous fashion shows. But what sounds like the showing of multiple collections featuring swimwear and sarongs (most likely at a time when you're stuck in a hot office dreaming of vacation), is actually a showing of trends appropriate for any season. This year's resort collections features coats we're coveting for the autumn chill, sheer dresses that have us scheduling time at the gym, and, OK, there are also some vacation-worthy pieces. Here, our favorite trends from the resort 2015 Collections. Use them to start your "back-to-school" pre-fall shopping list.
There is no better time than summertime for a pair of new sunglasses -- particularly if you're of the sit on them, forget them in the dressing room, lose them annually variety. Whether you try a pair of brightly colored mirrored sunglasses, or a cool metallic pair, let these fashion bloggers, street style stars and fashion week designers show you how it's done.
