The Print That Goes With Everything (Seriously)

Black is boring. Swap out your old standbys for these luxe snakeskin accessories

Last weekend, one of my friends boldly announced, "I'm just going to say it. Snakeskin is the new neutral." I couldn't wrap my head around it. I have long since reserved the whole "patterns as a neutral" category for cheetah print and cheetah print alone. But as I started going back through fashion week coverage, and the more editorials I flipped through, I saw it. Snakeskin is everywhere -- and for good reason. Whether you wear it in bold colors or subtle neutrals, snakeskin does go with just about anything, and it adds an element of luxe. Even simple jeans and a T-shirt can get an update from a small snakeskin accessory like a bracelet or scarf. Here, eight examples to make you a believer.

Not Quite Neutral
To keep your snakeskin accessories versatile, look for colors you wear again and again and patterns that are slightly atypical. Blair Culwell of The Fox & She wears this gorgeous Vince Camuto Julia Crossbody bag in navy and tan.

These Boots
Olivia Palermo is sort of an unofficial style goddess, so I'm not surprised to see her pull off snakeskin effortlessly. She makes lace-up knee-high boots look nothing short of classy as a neutral accent paired with shades of blue.

A Cinch
Happily Grey style blogger Mary Seng creates an hourglass shape, accenting her black jumper with a snakeskin belt from BCBG Max Azria.

Oversize It
Narcisco Rodriguez worked snakeskin into his fall runway collection in the most elegant, understated way possible. I can't get enough of the clean lines on this oversize clutch. (Has anyone noticed these things keep getting bigger and bigger?)
