11 Stunning Red Carpet Beauty Looks We're Stealing this New Year's Eve

Because the best way to ring in the New Year is with a killer smoky eye (or bold lip)

Naomi Campbell's Glittery Lips
Truth time: On big party nights, like New Year's Eve, often I'm content to just Netflix-and-chill on my couch. So when I do hit the town, my mentality is: Go big, or stay home.

That's why I don't even care that Naomi Campbell's glitter lip is a bit over-the-top and definitely on-the-nose for a glitzy holiday bash. After all, glittery, metallic lips have been having a major moment this year. I also like that she doesn't pull any punches when it comes to her shimmering eyelids and in-your-face lashes. You'd better believe that when she walks into a room with a look like this, people notice. And hey, if I'm going through the trouble of shaving my legs, wriggling into a bedazzled dress and paying an Uber surcharge, I want people looking my way. --Mary Squillace

For obvious reasons, let's talk lips first. One of this year's most awe-inspiring launches was Pat McGrath's Lust 004, which is what's responsible for Naomi Campbell's ruby-red-slipper-like pout. But, for those of us who did not manage to score the coveted lip kit before it sold out, the dazzling OCC Lip Tar, in Black Metal Dahlia, $16, is a darn good substitute.

To get Naomi's eyes, sweep a light, slightly silvery shadow, like Jane Iredale PurePressed Eye Shadow Single in Platinum, $22, over the lids. Add a swipe of Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, $20, and several coats of make-your-eyes-pop mascara, like Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara, $23 (perhaps topped off with some falsies, if that's your thing). Finish the look with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush, $38, for a glowy pop of color on your cheeks.

Emily Ratajkowski's Bold, Graphic Eye
I'm obsessed with a sexy smoky eye, and no matter the party, I'll be wearing one. This New Year's Eve, I'm taking makeup inspiration from one of the prettiest eye looks I've seen all year: Emily Ratajkowski's Emmys red carpet look.

While many (myself included) stick to navy blue, deep purple and smoky gray eye shadow, Ratajkowski showed off her playful side with a pop of turquoise blue color on her lids. It's a look that will stand out on New Year's among a sea of metallic makeup. And while her knockout eye makeup is definitely the star of the show, Ratajkowski balances the look with a pretty nude lip and slicked-back pony. -- Jessica Amaris

Blended eye shadow and vibrant eyeliner are key to this look. To recreate it, use the blue shadows in NYX Cosmetics Wicked Dreams Collection, $15 -- an eye shadow palette with 24 highly pigmented shadows that make creating a blended smoky eye a breeze. For her exact eyeliner colors, opt for Lorac Front of the Line Pro Eye Pencil, $20, in Aqua and Navy. Apply the aqua hue in the inner corners and about three-quarters of the way down the eye on the top and bottom lash lines. Then, blend the navy in the outer corners on both the bottom and top lash line. To finish the look and to ensure your lipstick isn't going anywhere, swipe on Rimmel London Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Colour, $6.49, in Skinny Dipping, and you're ready to celebrate the last hours of the year.

Emma Watson's Ethereal Glow
Emma Watson can do no wrong on the red carpet. While it's her makeup look from the Elle Style Awards that I covet most for New Year's Eve, I'm also bookmarking her gorgeous, minimalist looks from the Golden Globes and her London "Noah" premiere as must-copy looks for later.

With glowing skin, rosy pink cheeks and a classic crimson lip, Emma Watson's makeup look is genius in its simplicity. Perfectly placed highlighter gives her skin an ethereal, flawless finish -- like she might actually have floated down from the heavens. The sheer wash of color over her cheeks imparts the most natural, fresh-faced flush that you'd almost think she were blushing from a red carpet blunder, if she didn't look so completely and utterly composed. Her matte statement lip keeps the look modern, while her messy updo and pearl ear cuff give just the right amount of effortlessness and edge. --Jill Provost
