While the black and blue color combination often inspires controversies (remember the dress debate?) and causes our mothers to worry when used in the same sentence -- this gorgeous black nail design is setting the record straight -- proving they really are the perfect color pair. These striped nails were created by using Deco Miami Nail Lacquer in Male Tears and Black Like My Soul. The subtle pastel blue polish plays up the clean cut lines beautifully, and is a great substitute for when you need to switch up your black and white nails. Who's got the nail tape? We need to recreate ASAP.

While some are intimidated by the bold statement a yellow nail polish makes, these chic summer nails are sure giving us some bright ideas about our nail art. These dainty little digits, spotted on Marc Jacobs Beauty's Instagram, use Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in Lux.
To steal a little sunshine for those gray days (and keep it at your fingertips), start by painting your whole nail with yellow nail polish. To mellow out the yellow a bit, swipe a neutral putty gray polish onto the tips of your nails (we like Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in Baby Jane), drawing the arc lower with each nail to create a cool visual effect (and very chic nail art). We know our beauties like to stand out with their summer nails, and this unique color combo will make you an instant trendsetter. By combining the bold sunshine shade with a neutral gray polish, it makes the understated look more fun and complex -- just like you, doll.

Confession time: When it comes to nail art, we usually play it safe with subdued and understated designs. But every now and then, it's fun to break out of our comfort zone with something totally cool and edgy, like these nails designed by Jessica Washick @jessicawashick, using a rainbow of colors from NCLA, Deborah Lippmann, Lauren B Beauty, Londontown and Wet n Wild. The raucous, "Gossip Girl"-inspired manicure couldn't be better timed, as rumors swirl of a show reunion.
Statement-making? For sure. Impossible to pull off? No way. If Zooey Deschanel can rock crazy-cool nail art on the red carpet, there's no reason we can't wear it in everyday life. Besides, it's fun to keep people guessing. We can always go back to wearing our signature nude tomorrow.

You know what we love? Nail art that is so unique and subtle, it stands out more than a flashy look-at-me manicure. That's how we feel about these understated water droplet nails, created by Sally Hansen Global Color Ambassador Madeline Poole. Though they look like they took an hour to create, these water nails really take only about 10 minutes (lazy girls rejoice).
To recreate the look, start with a base coat (try Dolce & Gabbana Protective Base Coat). Once dry, apply your favorite beige nail polish (we love OPI Nail Lacquer, in Act Your Beige!). To create the water droplets, take a clear nail polish like Sinful Colors Nail Polish Clear Coat, and gently dab small bubbles on your nail with the end of the application brush, a toothpick or a dotting tool. Be sure not to apply too much polish at once, as you're going for droplets --not streams. Continue to do this on all of your nails, and let them dry for a good couple minutes. Once dry, apply a top coat for added protection, then go debut your sick-as-hell nails right then and there.

With over $133.6 million in ticket sales opening weekend, it's safe to assume you're probably as excited about the release of "Suicide Squad" as we are. To channel our excitement (and inner villain), we gave our digits the Arkham Asylum treatment -- that is, a manicure with just the right amount of crazy.
You can thank ohmygoshpolish for this killer nail design, which took a nail polish squad to create. The nail art master used Floss Gloss Nail Lacquer in Mrs. Tony Montana, Wavepool, Con Limon, Pony and Maliboob Job, and OPI Nail Lacquer in Keeping Suzi at Bay with top coat INM Out the Door Matte.
