These are the Japanese Luxury Brands You Need to Know

The brands you need to know — and their buzziest products

Decorte
One of the most loved higher-end beauty brands in Japan, Decorte has only recently made its way to department store counters in the U.S. Saks Fifth Avenue began carrying the brand's skin care products in 2016, with color cosmetics following in 2017. And with Kate Moss as the face of the brand and a lineup of decadently gorgeous products, this is definitely a brand to watch.

Must-have products: The skin care products are appropriately luxe and glowy, but we really can't get enough of Decorte Dip in Glow Cream Highlighter, $35, and Decorte Cream Blush Moisturizing Cheek Glow, $35. The highlighter is oh-so-creamy and perfect for achieving that natural dewy glow and the blush has an intriguing bouncy texture that yields easy-to-blend color payoff that wears all day long.

Cle de Peau Beaute
Though the name sounds decidedly French, yes, this beauty brand originally hails from Japan. Even by department store standards, it's luxe (one of its face creams costs $1,000 — though, to be fair, it's an outlier) but if you're feeling like treating yourself on payday, it's Worth It.

Must-have products: Everything we've tried from this brand has been excellent, but we're particular fans of Cle de Peau Beaute Intensifying Liquid Eyeliner, $55 (it's pricey, but with its dual-ended brush/tip combo, think of it as a twofer — plus, it lasts forever). We also love the cult-favorite Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer Broad Spectrum SPF 25, $70, and you can't go wrong with the Cle de Peau Beaute Lipstick, $65, either.

Suqqu
Less known in the States, Suqqu is massively popular among Asian beauty aficionados and is well-liked in England as well.

Must-have products: Suqqu Liquid Eyebrow Pen, $26, is something of a cult favorite — the brush tip is perfect for creating realistic hair-like strokes and the Moss Green shade, in particular, is flattering and cool-toned in a way that can be tough to find with brow products. You'd also be hard-pressed to pass up the Suqqu Designing Color Eyes Eyeshadow Palette, $54, what with the silky formula and the inspired color selection.

Shiseido
Shiseido first made its way to the states in the 60s and is popular for its gentle-yet-effective skin care products and sumptuous color cosmetics line.

Must-have products: Well, you can't go wrong with the brand's sunscreens and we've been loving the ultra-lightweight Shiseido Essential Energy Moisturizing Gel Cream, $48 (it absorbs instantly and smells divine). You're also going to want to keep your eyes out for its recently relaunched makeup line, including the Shiseido Visionairy Gel Lipstick, $26.

Boscia
Though it launched in the U.S., Boscia was originally established by a Japanese cosmetics company. The brand focuses on natural botanical ingredients and currently offers a fun, fresh lineup of products.

Must-have products: For a fairly uniquely Japanese experience, you can't go wrong with the Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel, $34, which offers one of the more satisfying modes of exfoliation. We also recommend the recently-launched Boscia Cactus Water Gel Moisturizer, $38 — it's got a pleasing jelly-like texture that's perfect for summer.
