Easy Nail Art: Not Matte About It
The look: The use of a matte top coat makes this black easy nail art look more mod than goth.

How to get it: To create this easy nail art look, start by picking your base color -- the one used in the picture is Sinful Colors Nail Enamel in Black on Black. Cover the entire nail; let dry. Then, tape off a 90-degree square using two different pieces of tape overlapping one another forming an "L" shape. Use OPI Matte Top Coat to paint the exposed nail. Peel the tape off immediately and let the square dry. Then, repeat the "L" shape on the opposite side to create a checker board, filling in the exposed square with Matte About You. Let dry, then finish with a top coat.

Easy Nail Art: Barely-There Gleam
The look: This easy nail art look is especially eye-catching because the gold half circle is set on a matte background.

How to get it: Kick off this easy nail art look by painting the nail with a matte polish like Essie's Matte About You. Cut a rounded edge on a piece of tape, and place it over the top of the nail, leaving a half circle above the nail bed exposed. Fill in the half circle with a high-shine color like Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Polish in Go For Gold.

Easy Nail Art: Stylish Starburst
The look: Here's an easy nail art look that's perfect for the minimalist who wants to subtly embrace her inner exhibitionist with a flashy accent nail.

How to get it: Paint you ring finger in a gold shade like Deborah Lippmann Nail Lacquer in Boom Boom Pow and the rest of your fingers in a black finish like Essie Nail Polish in Licorice. Then, take five superthin strips of household scotch tape and layer them on your ring finger nail in a starburst pattern before painting over them with the black polish. Photo credit: Chloe's Nails

Easy Nail Art: The Gold Standard
The look: These gold stripes are as delicate and graceful as the thin gold bands you wear around your fingers -- and totally complement them.

How to get it: Use tape to cover all but a superthin stripe down the center of your nail. Paint a metallic gold polish like Essie Nail Polish in Good as Gold over the exposed portion of your nail. Then, go over the same area with a gold glitter polish like Essie Nail Polish Rock at the Top, making sure to push stray flecks of glitter back on to the stripe with a toothpick. Easy Nail Art: The Right Stripes
The look: Diagonal stripes add visual interest to an otherwise understated black-and-white easy nail art look.

How to get it: Start with a white base coat like OPI Nail Lacquer in Alpine Snow. Then, freehand diagonal stripes with a striping brush. Try the Winstonia Professional Nail Art Striping Brush. Make sure to vary the stripes' shapes to create a truly head-turning look.
