9 Best (New!) Beauty Buys for September

Say buh-bye to beachy, summer beauty and hellooo to fall with the brand-new products we're loving right now
There are endless new fall nail polishes to choose from, but I'll be wearing this treatment-color hybrid from Perfect Formula. They took their iconic Pink Gel Coat (just check out that 9.8 rating!), and -- after seven years of testing -- figured out how to suspend pigment in the clear nail strengthener.

Not only does it help your nails grow, the taupe shade is the perfect nude for fall. It has just enough lavender and gray undertones to make it super flattering, and you get the peace of mind that your polish isn't destroying your nails.

What started out as a hair oil trend quickly turned into an Argan oil trend. The only catch? The rare Moroccan oil is pricey. Finally, our favorite drugstore brands have gotten their hands on the stuff, and anyone can have incredibly moisturized hair for just a few bucks.

The best of the bunch is Herbal Essences Moroccan My Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, which smell divine -- fruity like most Herbal products, with just a hint of Argan nuttiness -- and leave your hair mirror-shiny.

Despite wearing layer upon layer of SPF, a big hat, and hiding inside between the hours of 11 and 3 every day, my freckles get darker in the summer. By the time September comes around, they're at their worst -- and I start devising a plan to snuff them out.

My product of choice this time around is this new serum from Lancôme, which contains a hydroquinone derivative to even out tone, as well as a pearl-like tint that makes your skin look more even. Unlike most one-size-fits-all brighteners, this one comes in three formulas -- for fair, medium, and dark skin.

As soon as September comes around, I break out my collection of lipsticks. They seem too high-maintenance in August, but they make so much sense in the fall.. But I'm still not ready to wear dark colors, yet. So when I came across this new lipstick from Cargo in Punta Cana -- a bright fuchsia -- I was sold. It's seriously moisturizing like a balm (its made with olive oil, jojoba, and shea butter) but the color lasts like a lipstick.

With the zillions of skin care oils out there, I've become hyper-critical of new launches. Another blend in a cute apothecary-like bottle isn't going to impress me unless there's actual science backing it up.

The clinical test results for the new Algenist Advanced Anti-Aging Repair Oil passsed the b.s. test. Out of 100 women, 99 had fewer wrinkles after just 10 days. And 24 hours after applying it, skin is five times more hydrated than untreated skin -- that's staying power. Why is it so good, you wonder? This patent-pending formula is made with microalgae oil, which is rich in oleic acid. And oleic acid is naturally found in our skin. That means our skin absorbs this oil incredibly well. And that's exactly what you want in a skin care oil.

September might just be the best month of the year. Sure, we all mourn the end of summer, but then there's New York Fashion Week, back-to-school, and cooler weather -- the energy is infectious. I start my boots-and-sweaters Pinterest board, plan an apple-picking excursion, and toss out my grimy old bronzers, sunscreens, and grapefruit-scented body washes.

You've heard it before: you need to update your beauty routine as the seasons change. But September can be tricky -- it's still too, well, summery for heavy moisturizers and pine-scented candles. The key is to transition gradually. Swap out your skin care and hair products (because you'll need to undo the damage you did over the last three months), and clean out your makeup bag to make room for the new fall palettes.

September is a major shopping month, so consider this your game plan for getting the best new beauty products launching this month.
