2018 has been the year of taking the wrong kind of chances and making them right. Be it big hair or frosty lips, our celeb icons and their style squads have made a reach when it comes to beauty. Unlike last year, this year wasn't just about the contouring reckoning or the faux bob.

Jennifer Lawrence straight up put fresh flowers in her hair, K-Beauty is as mainstream as it gets, Rihanna's Fenty Beauty has given us new life goals and we're wearing black lipstick to work now. And yes, Blake Lively is still an icon, but Meghan Markle is a bigger one.

Here's looking at some of the best beauty moments from this year and the style lessons we're entering 2019 with.

Jennifer Lawrence

We can trust J-Law to bring the drama when it comes to the red carpet. For the 90th Annual Academy Awards, Jennifer went for a daring smoky eye and a generous dose of metallic highlighter. What we really love about the look, though, are her full-blown waves, which are more bombshell than beachy and go fantastically with her look.

Shay Mitchell

Shay Mitchell answers all the questions we have about the no-makeup look. Her no-fuss makeup, the minimal mascara and subtle highlighting is the perfect beauty trifecta.

Kim Kardashian

Kim K's Met Gala look was all about owning the Kardashian extra-ness. The hyper smoky eyes, the half-ponytail, everything works to the max on this look. And we're not sure if anyone else besides Kim could pull this off.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross wore fuchsia lips and neon orange eyeshadow along with a hot pink Valentino gown to the 2018 Emmys for what can now be called the "beauty moment of the year." Tracee's look is the perfect example of how we don't always need a demanding smoky eye and how to work neons.
