Sunset Ombre
Ombre nails were hot on the runway this season. At Rebecca Minkoff, Essie Global Color Designer Michelle Saunders concocted this dreamy nail art idea after the chunky lucite heels in the designer's spring footwear collection.

To steal the look, start by applying a base coat to clean filed nails. Next trim a makeup sponge in half and use the side that's narrower to create the ombre sunset. From the top to bottom, layer the sponge in thin, horizontal lines with Essie Nail Polish Tarte Deco, Marshmallow, Beach Bum Blu and Midnight Cami. Sponge the pattern on each finger, making sure Tarte Deco is always at the base. Reapply colors to the sponge after every other nail. Apply one coat of Spaghetti Strap over each nail to "soften the sunset." Finish with Essie Gel Setter Top Coat.

Calligraphy-Inspired Nude
Playing off the ivory and texture in the Carmen Marc Valvo collection, Gina Edwards for Kiss Products gave dimension to her nail art by incorporating opalescent glitter for a crushed eggshell effect.

To get the look start by using Kiss 100 Full Cover Nails in Active Oval and apply one coat of Kiss Everlasting Color Gel Polish. When polish is still wet, sprinkle opalescent glitter from the Kiss Salon Secret Nail Art Starter Kit from the middle of the nail to the tip. Use a silicone or wooden stick to move the glitter into desired position. Apply a second coat of polish and let dry, finishing with Kiss Everlasting Gel Polish Top Coat.

Graffiti-Inspired Nail
"I created this bold nail look to play off of the street art inspired clothing in the collection," Butter London's lead manicurist Katie Jane Hughes said on her nail designs for Nicole Miller. "Black nails and edgy details are going to be a trend for spring."

To create the look, start with two coats of Butter London Nail Lacquer in Cotton Buds. Next, dip a bobby pin in Union Jack Black polish, and position the bobby pin over the nail, blowing through the middle to create the splatter effect on each nail. With a new bobby pin, repeat the process with Easy Peasy nail lacquer on various nails on both hands. To secure the look and get a high-shine finish, apply one coat of Butter London Hardwear PD Quick Topcoat.

Marvelously Metallic Manicure
To match all the neutral shades in Phillip Lim's Spring/Summer 2016 collection, Sally Hansen manicurist Madeline Poole added a metallic twist to the earthy tone nail color. To achieve the look, she used two coats of Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in All Bark. Then, she applied metallic striping tape for the thin lines and metallic graphic design tape for the thicker lines. For those looking to steal the look, Poole warns not to use a topcoat because it will cause the tape to lift.

Tri-Tone Tips
Inspired by "a juxtaposition of the scaffolding-filled city and the softness of the country," Morgan Taylor artist Gina Edwards created a tri-tone manicure for Jonathan Simkhai. Using a base of diluted Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer in Prim-rose and Proper from Morgan Taylor's Spring 2016 collection, a stroke of Could Have Foiled Me was applied on each of the tips, and a bold swipe of Water Baby to the cuticle line.

While most eyes were on the dresses and jumpsuits that came down the runway at last week's New York Fashion Week, we were laser-focused on models' manicures. If the nail art looks we saw most often are any clue to what will be on trend come spring 2016, we forecast minimalistic and geometric nail designs, along with wild splatter, ombre and dark, moody nails.

For nail art that needs to go straight from the runway to your nail bed, these NYFW nail designs are easy to recreate and will have your fingers looking runway chic in minutes.
