Slouchy Pose
This model's crochet shift dress is so music festival chic, but I just want to go up to her, fix her posture, and say, "Didn't your mother tell you to stand up straight?"

Pissed Off Pose
Someone is taking your photo, so that means they must think you're looking fabulous. What's with the sourpuss attitude? I wish this model would just crack a smile.

Staring at Shoes Pose
The "staring at your shoes pose" is a favorite among fashion bloggers, but what's so fascinating about the pavement, anyway? Her outfit is super chic, but it looks like she lost an earring and is looking for it.

Frozen Ballerina Pose
This pose actually shows off this gal's outfit nicely, but it's just not natural. When you stand in a way that doesn't feel normal, it comes off as forced and frozen.

The No-Pose Pose
The problem with this pose? Well, it's not really a pose at all, and it has a "deer caught in headlights" effect. Put your hand on your hip, smile, just do something to give a little visual interest.

I have one go-to move when I pose for photos: I call it the "side pose," where I smile, put one hand on my hip, and cheat my body out to the side. Admittedly, it's pretty similar to Paris Hilton's patented pose, but I don't care. It works for me, so I'm sticking with it.

Whenever I try to mix things up with my poses, I look super awkward. Posing is tricky business; it's so easy to end up looking uncomfortable and stiff, and even the street style pros screw it up sometimes. To prove it, I've sifted through street style shots to find the most awkward poses that you definitely do not want to recreate next time you're in front of a camera lens.

These street style models and fashion bloggers look stunning, but each one has broken a cardinal rule of posing. But these street stylers shouldn't feel badly for every handful of hits, it's pretty much guaranteed you're gonna have a miss.

So, learn from other's mistakes, and click through our gallery to see the cream of the awkward crop. You might already be guilty of trying one of these poses, but at least you can avoid being a repeat offender.
