The beachy waves of summer have found their fall, more polished sister in the form of a tousled loose bun, like the one seen here on Shenae Grimes. So is this the right look for you? According to Papanikolas, this "loose chignon works great when you have a heavy side-swept bang." So if you do, we suggest making this your new go-to style.
Styling tips:
Working with dry hair, "leave out a triangular section of the bangs and curl [it] away from the face with a curling iron," says Papanikolas. Pin it aside for now and then secure hair into a ponytail and swoop it into a knot shape. Secure with bobby pins. Let down the face-framing section, then spritz your style with flexible-hold hairspray (try Pantene Pro-V Style Sheer Volume Flexible Hold Hair Spray, $7.95) so your looks lasts "without looking stiff," says Papanikolas.

The look: Satin eyes
Rich, satin-looking eyes made their way down the catwalk in hues of deep blues, purples and dark silvers -- wear them to quickly add intensity to your look. For a "sultry, smoky eye [like Leighton Meester's], use colors that complement and intensify your own natural eye color," says Devitt. Try purples and blues if you have dark eyes and silvers and gunmetal shades for light eyes.
Application tips:
To achieve this look, choose your fall-appropriate satin color like
Nars Single Eye Shadow in Daphne (deep purple), Night Flight (deep blue), or Night Breed (deep silver), $23 and sweep it across your eyelid with a flat brush. Hold your brush pointing downward as you apply it as "this allows the pigment to get deep into the lashline," says Devitt. To make your eyes look more open "even if the finished look is sultry, blend eyeshadow no further than the browbone to soften and create a more natural transition," says Devitt. This also keeps attention on your eye color instead of the makeup application, she adds. Finish by adding a dot of cream-colored shimmer eyeshadow to your browbone and inner corners to make your eyes "look extra sparkly," explains Devitt.

The look: Wavy bob
The sleek lob (long bob) was the "it" bob for summer, but this fall it gets curly and messy (in a good way).
Styling tips:
To get this easy wavy look, apply a volumizing mousse like Joico Body Luxe Design Foam, $12.50 on wet hair, says Papanikolas. "Then, without using a brush, dry hair [with a diffuser] to expand the hair's natural wave," he says. Once hair is dry, finish the look by curling sections with a one-inch curling iron to get "perfect, imperfect waves." Gently finger comb curls and spritz with a flexible hold hairspray.

The look: Skin tone lipcolor
Nude lips (similar to Stacy Ferguson's) in soft shades of beige and fleshy pinks complement fall's dramatic eye makeup and bring balance to your look.
Application tips:
"To achieve this subtle, but flattering, look," use a skin-colored lip pencil like Kevyn Aucoin Beauty Flesh Tone Lip Pencil, $24 and "apply with light, feathering strokes, blending inwards to enhance [your] natural lip shape," says Devitt. Top the pencils with a nude or flesh-toned gloss, like Lip Enhancing Gloss in Bermuda Triangle, $22. This combo will make the lips appear almost bare and put focus on your eyes, says Devitt.
Fall is � well, it's falling upon us rapidly. As to be predicted, celebrities' hairstyles and makeup choices are quickly starting to reflect the season's new upcoming fads, which means, we mortals should start adapting, right? So, what are the oh-so fabulous "fall fads" -- the ones that are so strikingly different from last fall's that you should be desperately ready to follow? And which celebrity's makeup look or coif from the runway is worth forgetting all your summer faves for? These discerning questions need to be asked and answered.
To start, what's exciting about the trends this fall is, most of the "in" looks are chic and easily help you look pulled-together. Rich satin eye makeup, lush beautiful lashes, simple ponytails, and of course, as no fall makeup trend report could be without, luscious red lips -- each of these looks will quickly have you saying "summer who?". The best part? All of these hairstyles and makeup looks take mere minutes to create. Because the last time we checked, we didn't have a team of stylists or backstage beauty gurus spending countless hours perfecting our fall staple French twist (wouldn't that be nice).
What we do have though is makeup artist Sue Devitt and celeb hairstylist George Papanikolas (he's worked with Nicole Ritchie, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Miley Cryrus among others), who are about to tell us how to recreate the styles hot off the September issue-press -- easily.
