The new hair color:
Chestnut brown will add instant sophistication, says Jason Backe, master colorist at Ted Gibson Salon and color director for Clairol. Unlike her "before" color, this brown downplays ruddiness and flatters her skin.

The new cut:
A wash-and-go style is key for Penny's busy lifestyle, so Gibson layers her thick hair to break up the heaviness and "add movement without needing to be styled into place," he says.

The new makeup look:
Turnbow gives Penny a plum smoky eye using a thick pencil (try Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier Pencil in Ava, $22) -- a foolproof, subtle way to add color. Soft pink blush (try CoverGirl True Cheeks Blush, $6) and petal pink lipstick, like DuWop Realipstick in Katherine, $18, make this a glam yet simple-to-do look.

The new lashes:
Turnbow adds drama by applying individual false lashes (try Ardell Duralash Naturals Combo Pack, $4.50) to only the center of the lash line. To master this technique for a special night out now and then, Penny will be watching this how-to video.

The 'before' shot:
Here's the photo Penny sent us, asking for a makeover. (Think she blurred out her face on purpose?) We suspected a more skin tone-enhancing hair color and simple makeup would turn Penny into a camera-loving queen. So did it?

Our makeover dream team -- celebrity stylist Ted Gibson, owner of Ted Gibson Salon in New York City, and celebrity makeup artist and Beauty.com spokesperson Tina Turnbow -- give Penny a gorgeous layered hairstyle and glam makeup look.
