Right eye (appears left): Dove Pro-Age Eye Treatment, SPF 8, $11.99

Lancôme review: "If I had to choose between these, I'd prefer Lancôme. It was lighter and absorbed better. But the deep wrinkles and crinkles were still there."

Dove review: "The Dove cream had a waxy feel that left a film. Sometimes I woke up with goop in my eye."

Results: "Granted, nothing short of a facelift would make me happy, but I did expect some visible improvement. (A little cream ... voila! 25 again! Okay, 35.) Both brands smoothed and softened the skin around my eyes and seemed to reduce tiny surface wrinkles. Other than that, I don't think there was a noticeable difference with either cream, cheap or expensive. Bummer."

Lancôme review: "I normally use Lancôme products, so I may be a bit biased. This cream felt very silky and stayed moist longer than the Dove. It had a light texture and blended well with eye makeup and foundation. I also preferred the Lancôme scent to the Dove."

Dove review: "This felt like any other cream or lotion with a light texture. It dried faster than the Lancôme and also blended well with makeup. Although it claimed to be fragrance-free, it had a bit of a plastic smell."

Results: "Both products fell short of their promises. I noticed no change in skin around either eye."

Left eye (appears right): Burt's Bees Radiance Eye Creme with Royal Jelly, $14.99

Right eye (appears left): Aveda Tourmaline Charged Eye Creme, $30

Burt's Bees review: "This less-expensive cream was not my favorite. The thinner texture and chemical smell left my eyes watery and slightly irritated for a few minutes after each application. I guess it really is true; you get what you pay for."

Aveda review: "Being only 24, I laughed when I heard I was testing eye cream. But this will now become a regular part of my beauty regimen. The calming, cooling effect of the cream felt amazing on the skin, especially after a long night out or a stressful day at work. It also had no negative effects under my makeup."

Results: "The Aveda product made my skin feel smoother and took away the puffiness from my eyes. The Burt's Bees didn't seem to do anything."

Right eye (appears left): Aveda Tourmaline Charged Eye Creme, $30

Burt's Bees review: "I like all the natural and yummy ingredients like orange, lemon, chamomile, cucumber, etc., that are in this 'jelly.' But in the end, I'd rather spread it on my sandwich than put it on my face. I didn't really like the thick consistency of it and found it difficult to apply just the right amount."

Aveda review: "I seem to have a newfound appreciation for tourmaline. The cream, which seemed more like a gel, was light and blended in well with my face. I also love the application tip which made it super-easy to put on every day and night."

Results: "The Burt's Bees package promised 'radiance' but the only glow I saw was from the greasy residue that lingered on my face. After using the Aveda cream, I was impressed that my skin felt moisturized, but not greasy, and smooth kind of how my hair feels after putting my tourmaline hair dryer to it."

Burt's Bees review: "This claimed to 'soften skin and increase radiance, firmness and minimize fine lines.' I don't know about the radiance or the lines but it did seem effective at softening the skin. I liked the nice, soft and creamy feeling of the product, though it didn't absorb quickly."

Aveda review: "This cream claimed to 'bring radiance to the tired eye area.' I saw no difference right away, though my skin seemed softer after six weeks. I didn't like the heavy feel; it felt similar to putting on an ointment like Neosporin."

Results: "With the Aveda cream, I didn't see a change to fine lines or dark circles, at least not enough difference to make usage twice a day worthwhile. With the Burt's Bees cream, I didn't see enough change to keep from wanting to try some different products."

Puffiness, dark circles and fine lines suck, no matter if you're 27 or 52. So we dared to ask: Do any of the eye treatments -- from chi-chi to cheapie -- actually work? "These products can and often do show results if they are used appropriately and for a long enough time," says cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Kenneth Beer. But did they? Check out these 19 brave women's un-retouched before-and-after photos here.
