L'Oréal review: " The cream for the lower eye 'bags' was smooth like a moisturizer, with a mild scent and texture. I put it on before bed and in the morning, letting it dry before I applied makeup. The most impressive change was in my upper lid; not only did I notice a difference, but others did as well -- within a week."

Fusion Beauty review: "This cream was very smooth and felt nice to the touch. I applied in the evening and morning without noticing any obvious scent. I also wore it under makeup (letting it dry first) and did not have any problems. But I wouldn't buy this because it didn't appear to change my skin."

Results: "I did not experience any noticeable changes as a result of the Fusion Beauty product, but the L'Oréal product did deliver some of the benefits promised. I noticed an improvement in the puffiness under my eyes within a few weeks. I am still using the product and have already recommended it to others."

Right eye (appears left): Dove Pro-Age Eye Treatment, SPF 8, $11.99

Lancôme review: "I fell in love with the packaging, a pretty silver jar in which I could see my reflection. The cream felt good on, had no repulsive smell and left my eye area refreshed. I could almost feel it working. But the cream never dried. This made it awkward to put makeup over top, so my solution would be to use this solely as a night cream."

Dove review: "This eye cream was in a simple and forgettable tube. It felt thick to put on, but once applied, it left my eye area with a matte finish. This was great for immediate makeup application and is ideal for daytime, although I would like a higher SPF than 8."

Results: "I can't see a difference."

Lancôme review: "This eye cream was a great product. It felt nice on the skin (a bit heavy) but I liked the texture. There was no obvious scent. It mixed well with my makeup. I like the container because it allowed me to control the amount used without wasting any."

Dove review: "This eye cream was light and extremely smooth on my skin. My favorite thing about it was how non-greasy it felt. I liked the tube because the cream stayed airtight/unexposed and was great for travel. The product mixed well with my makeup and I was able to apply it before or after my moisturizer."

Results: "The skin around my eyes felt more taut with the Lancôme, but with both creams, it hasn't changed in appearance. I haven't noticed any change in lines or dark circles."

Lancôme review: "If I had to choose between these, I'd prefer Lancôme. It was lighter and absorbed better. But the deep wrinkles and crinkles were still there."

Dove review: "The Dove cream had a waxy feel that left a film. Sometimes I woke up with goop in my eye."

Results: "Granted, nothing short of a facelift would make me happy, but I did expect some visible improvement. (A little cream ... voila! 25 again! Okay, 35.) Both brands smoothed and softened the skin around my eyes and seemed to reduce tiny surface wrinkles. Other than that, I don't think there was a noticeable difference with either cream, cheap or expensive. Bummer."

Lancôme review: "I normally use Lancôme products, so I may be a bit biased. This cream felt very silky and stayed moist longer than the Dove. It had a light texture and blended well with eye makeup and foundation. I also preferred the Lancôme scent to the Dove."

Dove review: "This felt like any other cream or lotion with a light texture. It dried faster than the Lancôme and also blended well with makeup. Although it claimed to be fragrance-free, it had a bit of a plastic smell."

Results: "Both products fell short of their promises. I noticed no change in skin around either eye."

Puffiness, dark circles and fine lines suck, no matter if you're 27 or 52. So we dared to ask: Do any of the eye treatments -- from chi-chi to cheapie -- actually work? "These products can and often do show results if they are used appropriately and for a long enough time," says cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Kenneth Beer. But did they? Check out these 19 brave women's un-retouched before-and-after photos here.
