Light Therapy (average spa cost: $1,000 for eight sessions)
You may have heard of (or even tried) light therapy at a spa to treat acne. Blue light promises to kill bacteria and help reduce blemishes, while red light aims to fade acne scarring and fine lines. These same light treatments can be done at home with ANSR: BEAM, $185, which has both blue and red lights and complementary skin care products.

Red light therapy can also be used to combat aging. Tanda has light therapy treatments for acne and anti-aging. The company claims the treatment improves skin texture, color and tone while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. N.V. Perricone Light Renewal, $335 also helps with skin tone and texture, especially around the eye area.

Salon-Worthy Color Boost (average salon cost: $50)
Save yourself the trip to the salon and do a color glaze (or gloss) at home. It will enhance your hair color (allowing you to add a couple of weeks between color appointments) and make it super-shiny. A few to try: Clairol Nice 'n Easy Color Boosting Glaze, $5.69, Frederic Fekkai Salon Glaze, $28, or John Frieda Color Glaze, $8.99.

Microdermabrasion (average spa cost: $150)
There are a ton of at-home microdermabrasion products to choose from now. The important thing is to choose one that will cater to your skin issues. For example, if you want to diminish acne scars or age spots, look for a product that claims to do just that, versus one that claims to brighten your complexion or minimize pores.

Try these TotalBeauty.com reader-approved kits (all of them can be used more than once):
Beauty Society Crystal Ball Microdermabrasion Treatment, $34.50
Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion & Peel System, $25.99
Mary Kay TimeWise Microdermabrasion, $30

Airbrush Tanning (average spa cost: $50)
Get the look of professional tanning -- without standing naked in front of a stranger for an hour. Mystic Tan, famous for their spray booths (which are private, but still costly), now has an at-home spray. Try their Mystic Tan Sunless Tanning Spray Face and Body, $38. Or check out Fusion Beauty GlowFusion AirGlow Airbrush Gun System, $175 for a product similar to those the pros use.

Chemical Peel (average spa cost: $100)
Chemical peels can be great for skin that's too sensitive for microdermabrasion. They still help even skin tone and exfoliate, but without being abrasive. One we love: Kinara Red Carpet Facial Kit, $95, this three-step system gives spa-worthy results and you can use it more than once. Want a peel in one step? Try Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads, $45, each container has at least a two-month supply.

Who has the money or the time to head to the spa or beauty salon these days? Not us. That's why we searched around for gadgets and products that would give us spa-worthy results at home. Check them out and be on your way to clearer, smoother skin, glossy hair and more, without making a huge dent in your bank account.
