Maria Menounos
Menounos' side-swept curls look strong enough to last all day, yet soft enough to touch. To get this look, curl your hair using a large barrel curling iron (you want big curls, not tight tendrils). Then sweep the mass of curls over one shoulder without separating them, and spritz with hairspray for hold (try John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Out Hold Hairspray, $5.99).

Charlize Theron
Theron's updo is the epitome of elegant. Loose curls create a soft, flowing effect when tucked to the side. To get this look, use hot rollers, then run your fingers through the curls to break them up. Pull your hair gently to the side of your head, and secure into place using clear elastic. The key to achieving the elegant finish is leaving the front tendrils loose and wavy.

Rumer Willis
A fun fishtail braid is always great to wear, and Willis adds a little flair by braiding it to the side. Secure hair into a loose low side pony (so you have hanging face-framing pieces) and separate it into two sections. Take a small piece from the outside of the right section and add it the left section. Then take a small piece from the outside of the left section and add it to the right. Repeat these steps until you reach the ends of your hair -- as you reach the ends angle the braid over your shoulder to help it stay put.

Kristin Cavallari
Cavallari's lived-in curls make this side-swept hairstyle perfect for someone who has places to go and people to see. To get this look, curl the bottom third of your hair -- don't apply too much product before curling so you get a more lived-in look. The twirl at the top of Cavallari's hair adds volume and enhances the beachy vibe. To get it, apply volumizing foam (try TreSemme 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse, $5.50) and blow dry that area up away from your face.

Scarlett Johansson
Johansson's side-swept hairstyle works great on short hair. Curl your hair, twisting the curling iron outwards to create flirty face-framing finish. Sweep it over to one side, and apply a styling mousse and a few bobby pins (try TreSemme Flawless Curls Extra Hold Mousse, $4.50) to hold it in place.

Cutting yourself side-swept bangs is one way to subtly update your hairstyle. But you should take a nod from celebrities on the red carpet and take it a step further by sporting a totally side-swept style. The hottest looks right now, whether they're updos, left down, or adorned with a jeweled accessory, are sexy side-swept looks. See how these celebrities successfully pulled off the trend!
