TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.1*

Why: Readers say this hair powder will "add more of a matte look" to shiny, oily hair while also giving your roots "great, non-greasy" fullness. Rub it into your roots to "reduce oiliness," "add body and texture" and "define layers with ease," they say. "Once I put a small amount in my hair, it automatically becomes thick and voluminous," claims one reader. "When your hair goes limp in the middle of the day" or "your bangs are hanging in your eyes and need some lift," you can "easily work the volume back up without having to add more," says another reader.

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.2*

Why: For those with oily hair who are afraid of using any product that might cause build-up, this doesn't have any of "that hardness some waxes provide." Readers say it's "strong without being sticky or flaky like the gels of yesteryear," and "your hair will still seem natural and have movement." For hair that looks greasy or slippery, this "helps you 'piece' your hair and gives you a little of that 'day after' look from when you washed your hair; right on the day you washed our hair!" It "provides a nice moderate hold for your hair while adding sheen and texture," says one reader. "It doesn't weigh down my thick hair, perks up my roots, and lasts and smells delicious!" says another reader. And they love that "the shine is wonderful without any greasy feel or look."

Why: If using even the tiniest bit of conditioner or product means having "several days of the greasies," then this is for you. This clarifying shampoo does "exactly what it is meant to," readers claim. It "removes all traces of residue from your hair, be it from styling products, every day buildup, or too heavy of a conditioner." "I have an oily scalp and this is the ONLY thing keeping me sane right now!" says one reader. "After using, my hair is so soft and easy to style. I get the volume back because it's not weighed down by residue," says another reader. Readers call this "a lifesaver," and rave about its scent, which "is to die for."

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 8.5*

Why: Although "oily hair conditioners are usually too weak or weigh the hair down," readers say this one "is very lightweight" and doesn't make hair feel "slick" or oily. "It's perfect for people with oily hair," they claim. "This product works fabulously on my very fine, thin, and terribly oily hair," says one reader. It gives your hair "tons of body" and is light enough to leave it "moisturized" without weighing it down," says another reader.

Why: Readers say this spray wax is perfect for "fine" and "thin" hair that is oil-prone, because it is "flexible," "workable" and "doesn't weigh" hair down. "My stick-straight, fine hair actually had a shape to it," raves one reader. "It gives perfect definition" and "just the right amount of hold, texture, and body without all that messy, sticky gooey feeling that some pomades and waxes leave behind," says another reader. For oily, slippery hair that might be tough to style, this will give you the "texture and thickness" you need, as well as the "moldability" to create long-lasting styles.

Oily skin is easy to deal with -- blot with some oil-blotting paper thingies, tap on some powder and voila! A shine-free face. (If controlling oil on your face still isn't that easy for you, check out these top products for keeping oily skin under control.) But what about oily hair? That's not nearly as easy to fix, right?

If you have oily hair, you most likely fall into one (or both) of these categories -- one: you're sick of seeing the words "for dry or damaged hair" on every bottle of shampoo you came across because they never apply to you, and two: you stay away from using any kind of hair product due to the fear of walking around with an oil slick on top of your head (god forbid your hair catches fire the next time you get too close to a flame).

Luckily, we're here to help. We asked our readers to share which products help keep their oily hair under control. They raved about everything from shampoos that got rid of oily build-up to thickening mousse that helped their thin, oily hair look fuller. Now you can actually style your oily hair without worrying about spontaneously combusting the second you step outside.

Want some simple tips? Use a clarifying shampoo once a week, carry around some hair powder for those midday oil invasions, and only use conditioner on your ends.
