Cat's Meow Curls
Curls were a staple throughout the 1920s. What made these looks truly stand out was pairing them with sparkly hair accessories. Go for a classically vintage style by strategically placing headbands above the forehead and teasing your curls for added volume.

1. Apply a leave-in conditioner, such as It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product to damp hair and blow dry straight.
2. Create a deep center part, and then begin curling vertical sections of your hair toward your face. Keep each section curled as you pull the iron. Then spray with a strong-hold hairspray, like Joico Power Spray Fast Dry Finishing Spray.
3. Once all of your hair is curled, rake through the curls using your fingers or a wide-toothed comb. Rub a styling pomade onto your hands and over the top of your hair, then use a soft brush to smooth your hair down and distribute the product evenly.
4. Finish with a sparkly headpiece to complete the look.

Buchanan Blonde Bob
The cropped cuts of the period may have been boyish, but the lavish headpieces kept the styles pretty and polished. Case in point: Daisy Buchanan, who dressed up her blonde bob with blunt bangs. Here's how to get the look in just four simple steps.

1. Apply a frizz-taming serum, Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Original Formula, to damp hair and blow dry straight using a fine-toothed comb. Allow your bangs to fall naturally.
2. Use a flat iron to tame any wavy pieces as necessary. Our fave is Sultra The Seductress 1-inch Flat Iron. Then, pointing the iron down vertically, wave your front pieces forward to create a loose wave.
3. Rub a styling pomade, such as Joico Brilliantine Pomade, onto the palms of your hands, and then run your hands over your hair, shaping your ends as you go.
4. Add an embellished headpiece for a vintage look.

We've all got it right now: Gatsby fever. From the window displays at Tiffany's and sneak peeks of the jaw-droppingly gorgeous costumes in the movie, to the star-studded soundtrack and hints of Gatsby-esque style showing up everywhere...We can't get enough.

Baz Luhrmann's "Great Gatsby" promises to deliver some serious eye candy (in addition to Leo, of course). In line with the era's decadence and glitzy hedonistic romps, the movie will be bursting with color and eye-catching visuals. But most of all, we're excited for the elaborate costumes, hair, and makeup.

Since flapper fashion and the Jazz Age are back in style this summer, you'll want to be perfectly practiced in the art of 1920s hairstyles. That's why we recreated four of our favorite looks: the blunt bob, glam curls, retro waves, and a faux bob.

But before you start thinking there's no way you could create a faux bob on your own, don't panic. We've made it easy by breaking down each look step-by-step. And you don't need to have a '20s-themed costume party penciled in on your calendar in order to wear these looks. These hairstyles are really versatile, and they'll look perfect at any summer cocktail party.

We've created hairstyles that are inspired by the jazz age but have a modern twist. So, instead of trying to suppress your Gatsby fever, embrace it.
