Your fall color: If you want a minor change
Try: A clear gloss or ombre hair color

If you're not into hair color, or have no desire to switch up your current shade, try a clear gloss this fall. You can DIY at home with a box gloss, or get it done at the salon. Wright recommends Clairol Jazzing Clear Shine, $6.49. It "is affordable and perfect for adding radiance to your hair and a vibrancy to its color," says Wright. Basically, a clear gloss will add tons of shine to your hair (like Jordana Brewster's shown here), without changing the color, so you won't have to worry about roots showing or color fading.

If you have highlights in your hair, whether they're salon- or sun-made, and are feeling a bit lazy this season, the ombre trend (dark roots transitioning to lighter ends, like Olivia Wilde's hair) is perfect for you. You can just let your roots grow out, no coloring necessary. Wright points out that this trend is "cost-effective and less harsh on your hair." And it's still going to be hugely popular for fall.

Your fall color: If you want a moderate change
Try: One-process color

Williams says many of his clients are asking for soft, golden browns and deep, solid blondes. He says this fall it's all about the one-process color for a low-maintenance look (meaning you can skip the upkeep on highlights -- and save some cash). If you're naturally brunette, try a warm shade like Crystal Reed's. Or if you're naturally (or "naturally") blonde, try a solid shade like Jamie King's. Grmolyes says she recently darkened Kristen Bell's blonde shade to a similar hue for fall.

Our general philosophy is: new season, new look. This can mean anything from a different shade of lipstick to a total image makeover. Fortunately, for fall 2011 we've got hair trends all across the image revamp spectrum.

Looking for a minor, "did she do something different with her hair?" tweak? We've got that (for hair color, haircuts, and hairstyles). Or want a "wow, I didn't even recognize you!" transformation? Look no further.

We talked to Byron Williams, co-founder of the Byron & Tracey Salon in Beverly Hills, Calif.; Ange Grmolyes, hairstylist at the Argyle Salon and Spa in Los Angeles; and Kiyah Wright, Emmy Award winning hairstylist from "The Tyra Banks Show" and "America's Next Top Model." They shared the fall hairstyle trends that they're most excited about -- and the ones their celebrity clients (like Kristen Bell, Jennifer Hudson and more) are trying out.

But before we get into the fall 2011 hair trends, the hairstylists have one tip that everyone should try before the cooler weather sets in: Use a deep conditioner. Your hair is bound to be dry by the end of summer, so apply a deep conditioner twice a week to get it soft and smooth again. Williams says it will help your hair health and improve the look of any hair color or highlights you plan on getting (since color applies more evenly to healthy hair). Grmolyes adds that really damaged hair should be cut, since deep conditioners can't repair split ends.

OK, now that you've got deep conditioner on your shopping list, let's get on with the trends
