Khaleesi Pride
This next 'do is a style even Daenerys Targaryen would be jealous of. The best part? It takes less than five minutes to throw together (granted you're coming straight from the beach). To create the look:

1. As soon as you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair and mist it with salt spray. We like Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray, $19.99.
2. Blow-dry your hair with a diffuser to bring out your natural waves. As you're drying, try to scrunch your hair to create more texture. (If you're not naturally wavy, curl hair starting at chin level with a 1-inch curling iron).
3. Now, make two small sections of hair at the front of your head. Taking one of the sections, begin to gently twist until you reach the end of the strand. Repeat the same step for the other section.
4.Bring the two together at the middle at the back of your head. Secure them together with a small, clear elastic. Pretty huh?
5. Continue steps three and four, continuing to grab sections from the front of your hair. Once you're satisfied with your swoon-worthy style, secure with an elastic, spritz some hairspray, and go break some hearts.

Braided Sock Bun
You know those blazing hot days where you want literally zero hair touching your neck or face? This style guarantees zero flyaways and space for a cool breeze to offer some relief. You'll need long hair and a sock or sock bun ring to create the ultra chic look:

1. Start with sleek, straightened strands (clean or second-day), and put hair into a ponytail in the middle of your head.
2. Wrap the sock ring around your ponytail at the elastic. Secure with bobby pins. Take your ponytail and separate into two sections -- one at the bottom, the other at the top.
3. Taking the top section of the ponytail, wrap hair around the top of the sock, covering it with hair and lightly pulling hair down around the sides. Secure the hair at the base of the sock with bobby pins. Repeat the same step for the bottom section of hair.
4. By now, you should look like an obnoxious flower from the back of your head with a covered bun and strands of hair falling around the sides. To transform into a neat bun: Take three strands of hair from the top flyaways, and begin to French braid -- grabbing strands from the falling hair around the bun. Braid until you reach the bottom of the bun.
5. Tuck the tail of the braid up and under the bun. Secure with a bobby pin and some flexible hold hairspray.

Polished Ponytail
Summer is the best time to get creative with your ponytails. This effortless, polished ponytail is perfect for summer days and nights (plus it takes all of two seconds to throw together). Here's the how-to:

Step 1: Apply blow-dry gel to towel-dried hair and blow hair dry straight with a round brush. Try Shu Uemura Wonder Worker Air Dry Blow Dry Multi-Tasking Primer, $33.
Step 2: Flat iron your hair, until it's nice and sleek.
Step 3: Smooth your hair into a high ponytail, leaving one small section free. Secure it with an elastic.
Step 4: Take the remaining small section of hair, and wrap it around the elastic of the pony. Secure with a bobby pin.
Step 5: Apply a dab of styling gel to your palms and slick them over your hairline to tame flyaways. And violà! Ariana Grande ain't got nothing on you, girl.

All Wrapped Up
We gathered a little summer hair inspiration from all those twisty waterslides we love in the summer -- because twisted hairstyles are some of the easiest (and cutest) looks out there. To create the fun updo:

1. Start by spritzing some texturizing spray at the roots of your hair (we love Sexy Hair Style Sexy Hairspray Clay Texturizing Spray Clay, $18.95) separating your hair into three sections -- two smaller sections at the front, one larger in the back. Put the back section into a ponytail.
2. Create a standard braid down the ponytail. Securing the end with a small (preferably clear) elastic. Take the braid and wrap it around the base of the ponytail. Secure with lots of bobby pins.
3. Next, take one of the small sections of your hair, loosely twisting the section of hair in towards your head. Wrap the twisted section around the top of the bun, and secure yet again with bobby pins.
4. Repeat the same step for the remaining section.
5. Finish it by gently tugging at the hair at the crown of your head for added volume. Lock it in with a hard hold hairspray.

A Fishtail Twist
Every girl loves a good fishtail braid, but you'll be stunning this summer with this chic twist on the braided hairstyle. To create the look:

1. Start by creating a low fishtail braid at the back of your head.
2. Once finished, separate hair at the beginning of your braid, making a slight hole at the base of your head. Grab the tail of your braid (bringing it underneath), and push the tail of the braid up through the hole.
3. Take the tail of your braid (it should look like Alfalfa hair right now), and continuing pulling the braid through the hole, wrapping it around the braid into a bun. Pin hair underneath.
4. For an effortless look, gently tug at the sides of the bun to fan the bun braid. Finish with a medium hold hairspray, and laugh in the face of basic fishtails everywhere.

I'm crazy about summer, but my hair? Not so much. It stubbornly refuses to be anything besides a big, frizzy, hot mess. Plus, can we talk about the hair-to-heat ratio going on? Nobody needs a heavy mop of hair sitting on her neck in the sweltering heat. That's why low-maintenance summer hairstyles are an absolute necessity to keep our hair looking hot, and us feeling cool.

Here, our favorite summer hairstyles that'll get you through all your outdoor escapades (while looking adorable, might I add). Plus, they're quick, require no heat and will stay out of your sweaty (er, glowing) face -- no matter how high the mercury rises.
