So, it turns out Kim Kardashian's bizarre $1,500 vampire facial (which created a stir after airing on an episode of "Kourtney and Kim Take Miami" in March) may be just the tip of the iceberg in ghoulish beauty treatments. Now, a similar procedure may be the answer to your man's worst nightmare: baldness.

During the procedure, coined "the vampire treatment" by headline-hunting researchers, blood is taken from a patient's arm, then spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets, which are injected into bald spots on the head.

According to a study published in the "British Journal of Dermatology," platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may cure certain kinds of baldness. Doctors studied 45 patients with alopecia areata (spot baldness) over the course of 12 months, and found that monthly PRP treatments "significantly increased hair regrowth" compared to placebo or other treatments.

The treatment isn't available to the public yet. The research team concluded that PRP may be a safe, effective treatment option for patients who suffer from spot baldness, and the positive result "calls for more extensive controlled studies."
