yes it lengthens and does the basic mascara work. it's better than nothing but it is not amazing.

I only wear blue mascara. It really brings out my eyes, i have worn since HS and am now 34. I have tried every big name mascara in every kind of blue and some greens. Some I have found, like Urban Decay and Mirabella are really nice, but at 4-6x the cost of the Maybelline, I cannot justify...

I have been using Great Lash by Maybelline for going on ten years now...I have attempted to try other mascaras but I always end up back to using maybelline -- I love what their black and blue mascaras do with my eyelashes -- I have never been disappointed by them --
