Social obligations, financial stress, work, money -- there are plenty of things that can send you back to bed when it all gets to be too much. Stress and depression are a tough mix, so control what you can: cancel what you can, plan activities that bring you joy, go on a budget, call debtors to make a payment plan, break off toxic relationships. Your happiness is important. Protect it.
Finally, this is a plea from someone who has been there: Ask for help before you need it. All kidding aside, depression -- seasonal or not -- is nothing to toy with. Ask your health provider for a referral to talk therapy, or medication if it's warranted. One in four people in this country live with a mental health condition. It's real and there's no shame in it. You are your best advocate in this process, so be proactive.
