10 Makeup Trends We Don't Want Back

Ever look at selfies from years ago and cringe to yourself, "why did I ever do that?" We all do, sis.

Over the top contouring
Who doesn't want a slimmer face? Contouring adds dimension to your face, highlights your best features, and hide those that you don't really like. But you don't have to look like a sculpture by going over the top. Worse, you might end up having bruise-like shadows on your cheeks. Learn how to contour and accentuate your features naturally to have a look that's truly on fleek.

Highlight before foundation
Here's a question we've been meaning to ask: WHY? Why apply highlight all over your face only to cover everything with foundation (worse, matte foundation)? This won't make your skin glow — on the contrary, it'll only make your skin feel heavy and your face cakey. It's a ridiculous step and you better go back to your trusted primer instead.

Overdrawn lips
We've all jumped to the Kylie Jenner lips bandwagon once. Having luscious, fuller lips is sexy, no doubt about that. But going overdrawn is now the thing of the past. It looks super fake and unflattering. Why not love your natural lips or use better ways to contour it to have an illusion of a bigger pucker?

Excessive baking
Baking is a popular makeup setting technique. It makes you look matte, and helps to highlight the higher points of your face. That said, you don't have to use five layers of loose powder to do that... unless you want to remove everything you've worked hard for whilst contouring and want a white cast, of course.

Too much highlighter
Do you even have highlighter if it isn't blinding enough? We all love some shine and shimmer, but there's such thing as going overboard even when it comes to applying highlighter. Go for that nice dewy glow... instead of imitating beaming car lights.
