What the Heck Is a "Beauty Sandwich" Treatment (and Do I Want One)?

This mysterious celeb-approved treatment is said to firm skin without needles...

Skin care expert Ivan Pol created a signature treatment called The Beauty Sandwich in 2010 (which was trademarked in 2018). He jokingly refers to it as "gluten-free" and says it's "the non-toxic celebrity red-carpet secret that naturally highlights and improves facial tone without the use of lasers, needles, or chemicals." He created it as a natural, less invasive (and less painful!) alternative to treatments like Botox and fillers.

Stars like Salma Hayek and Cara Delevingne count themselves as fans of the treatment, and Pol is something of a red carpet superstar in his own right (you've likely seen a lot of his handiwork on the red carpet lately). Sounds pretty good, right? The only catch is that treatments start at $850 (and go up to $5,500 for something called #GloNonStop!!)... which is restrictive pricing, to say the least. Still, it's an interesting, innovative type of facial — and it's always fun to live vicariously through our favorite celebs!

What exactly is it?

On his website, Pol calls the treatment part of the "new age of skin care" and says that it uses a unique radio frequency method to firm, sculpt, and tighten the skin, no needles necessary. It's a multi-layered process (hence the term "sandwich"): Pol starts by cleansing the skin, then gives a facial massage before using the Pellevé (a type of radio frequency treatment designed to boost collagen production) and the eMatrix (another type of radio frequency treatment that involves a gentle form of laser resurfacing).

Is it safe to use?

The Beauty Sandwich is non-invasive and non-toxic. Pol, who used to be a makeup artist, wanted to create a treatment that involved little downtime that would leave his clients' skin a perfect canvas.

Are the effects really that great?

If the many celebs who love the treatment are anything to go by, then yes. Everyone from the Olsen Twins to Victoria's Secret Angels like Romee Strijid and actresses like Sienna Miller counts themselves a fan of the treatment. Take a look at the Beauty Sandwich Instagram account to see all the famous clients that are Beauty Sandwich-ing away!

How much does it cost?

The website's menu currently lists three treatment options: The Signature for $850, The Tour de Force for $1,400, and #GloNonStop for a cool $5,550.
