Reasons You Should Be Wearing White Right Now

It's well past Labor Day, but these celeb rule breakers will convince you to wear your whites straight through winter
Photo 1/15
Of all the colors in the spectrum, white gets hit the hardest when it comes to fashion rules: Don't wear it to a wedding unless you're the bride (then by all means, do); don't wear it if you plan on eating marinara or drinking chianti, and perhaps most famously, don't even think about wearing it after Labor Day.

We get the first two rules. After all, no well-meaning guest wants to upstage the bride. But some quick research reveals that white's winter ban has more to do with snobby antiquated dress codes than anything practical, like trashing your pants when slogging through snow. Since modern conveniences save us from such snowy treks, we're not about to let our personal style be dictated by a bunch of crusty pre-Civil War dudes in wigs.

And neither was Coco Chanel. The legendary designer famously wore white year-round. Still, if Coco's public defiance of the style commandment isn't enough to sway you, then the recent appearance of white ensembles we've been seeing on the red carpet lately should give you the extra nudge to wear your whites through winter. Click ahead to see how celebs have been keeping the color hot even as the weather turns cold.
