News flash: sunscreen isn't just for the outdoors. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends wearing sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher everywhere and every day.

Yep, that means slathering on some block even when you're indoors. Sunlight from your windows — as well as the blue light emitted from our electronic devices (yes, really) — can also damage the skin, according to a 2018 study published by the Journal of Biomedical Physics & Engineering.

So, to prevent unwanted skin damage whether you're working inside or enjoying the outdoors, it's probably a good time to update your sunscreen stash. That said, in case you're having a hard time finding your best sunscreen match, we tapped two board-certified dermatologists to break down the best sunscreen releases for summer 2020.

As the name suggests, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Rina Allawh, MD, FAAD says this invisible sunscreen is a must-have for those who prefer an easy-breezy formula. "This sunscreen is lightweight, fragrance-free, and has the added bonus of being easy to conceal," she tells TotalBeauty. "It also has an invisible appearance on the skin, whether you wear it with, or without makeup."

Sensitive skin users will want to keep tabs on this tinted sunscreen: Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Marie Hayag, MD explains that it blends smoothly on all skin types, and contains skin-boosting ingredients like hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid, according to a 2012 study published in Dermato Endocrinology is a commonly used skin care ingredient that boosts your skin's moisture retention. This, in turn, helps to prevent the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

If you are dealing with pigmentation issues (such as melasma), Dr. Hayag suggests grabbing this tinted fluid formulation — it acts like a foundation in order to even out skin tone.

Additionally, it also contains specially-formulated DNA Repairsomes, which help to repair wrinkles and lines, while also working to reverse any existing sun damage you may be dealing with.

"This mineral broad-spectrum sunscreen contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, is water-resistant, and reef safe," Dr. Hayag says. "And since it glides and melts into the skin upon application, it is also excellent for people with facial hair, and other hair-bearing areas such as the back and chest."
