Montana
State tree: Ponderosa Pine
Fragrance: Guerlain Tonka Impériale, $260 for 2.5oz
As far as we know, bitterroot isn't used in any perfume. So we're rooting for the next best thing: Guerlain's Tonka Impériale contains rich notes of pine, which happens to be Montana's state tree.

Nebraska
Fragrance: Byredo Bal D'Afrique, $145 for 1.7oz
It was declared the state flower in 1895 to represent the perseverance of Nebraska's pioneers, and while no one has turned the flower into a fragrance yet, it is similar to the African marigold found in Byredo's Bal D'Afrique.

Sagebrush is one of those scents you'll find in manly, musky colognes, so we chose Washington Square from Bond No. 9 for its unique use of tarragon, which is closely related to Nevada's sagebrush.
