Here's the thing about eye shadow palettes: Though they tend to look gorgeous in the package, how many times have you bought one, only to use two (maybe three) shades from the whole thing? Luckily, that's not the case with Urban Decay's cult-favorite Naked palettes.

So when the brand pulled a Beyonce and announced the new Naked Smoky Palette, $54, seemingly out of nowhere, our office collectively swooned.

The sultry, gorgeous packaging is filled with 12 shades, ranging from matte neutrals to shimmery golden tones to rich blues and plums, making this eye shadow palette one of the most versatile I've come across. To prove it, I called upon Los Angeles makeup artist Brittany Spyksma to create three totally unique smoky eye makeup looks using the shadows from the Naked palette. And, of course, I got the scoop so you, too, can rock these badass looks the second you snap up this palette on July 8 -- get on the wait list now, because we've got a feeling this is going to fly off shelves.

One look at the Naked palette's smoked-out packaging, and it's easy to pigeonhole it as a nighttime-only palette. But don't underestimate it -- it's surprisingly wearable, even in the daylight hours. (Read: it doesn't require a dimly lit club setting.) This first smoky eye look is perfect for a variety of daytime events (work, a bridal shower, etc.), thanks to the soft matte shades. A hint of gray in the crease is more unexpected -- and beautiful -- than a typical brown.

Get the Look:

1. Start by applying an eye shadow primer.
2. Take the shade Combust and sweep it over your entire eyelid, into the crease and right below the brow bone.
3. Use a densely packed crease brush to press Password into your crease and into the outer corner of your eye to create a "V" shape.

4. Use a clean brush to blend Password so that it looks even.
5. Apply Thirteen under your brow bone as a matte highlighter.
6. Add a thin layer of black liner to your upper lash line.
7. Smudge Password along your lower lash line to give the look a subtly smoky feel. 8. Top off the look with two coats of mascara.

For this sexy eye makeup look, Spyksma amped up the drama with some strategically placed blue-gray shadow and shimmer. The best part: No false lashes are required to look smoldering.

Get the look:

1. Start by applying an eye primer to give the shadow lasting power.
2. Apply Combust all over your lid and up to the brow bone.
3. Use a small, dense brush to apply Dagger over your lid up to your crease.
4. Sweep Radar from the inner corner of your eye to the middle. The shimmery brown shade adds more depth to Dagger's cool blue hue.

5. Add Black Market to your outer crease and blend.
6. Dip a clean brush into Slanted and Radar, then use it to buff over your crease to add dimension.
