Makeup You Can — and Should — Sleep in

Now, hitting the sack without washing your face can actually be good for your skin

Breakout-Busting Bedtime Concealers
While I'm fortunate not to suffer from major acne, I still get the occasional breakout. And when I do have a zit, my husband loves nothing more than to tease me about it. Instead of giving him the satisfaction, I'll dab on an acne treatment concealer -- even before bed.

Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Concealer, $17.50, has salicylic acid, a nice creamy consistency and a green tint to counteract redness. For more concentrated coverage, try Murad Acne Treatment Concealer, $24, which has a drier texture and vitamins A, C and E in addition to salicylic acid. If you want to control your acne-treatment-to-concealer ratio, opt for Jane Iredale Zap and Hide Blemish Concealer, $26, which has a tea tree oil-based balm on one end and concealer on the other.

Tinted Tanners
If you're the kind of person who likes to do 10 things at once, then these products are for you. You get anti-aging benefits, moisture, a bronzed glow and a tint you can wear while you sleep -- all in one package.

Million Dollar Tan Sheer Tan Glam, $36, delivers on all of these benefits, and you can customize it to get just the amount of tint you want. The product comes in a dual-chamber pump -- color is on one side, a self-tanning moisturizer is on the other -- and you turn a dial to determine how much of each is dispensed.

Instead of tanning skin with DHA, By Terry Soleil Terry Hydra Bronzing Tinted Serum, $93, contains sweet orange extract to stimulate bronzing in a natural way. It also contains vitamin E and jasmine for free-radical protection, as well as ceramides and hyaluronic acid for moisture, and it leaves behind just a hint of tint you can wear all day -- or night.

Cheek and Lip Plumpers
Without makeup, my freckles are more prominent and my eyes look a bit more tired. But it's the lack of color in my face that disappoints me the most -- I need a little blush to look alive. If I cared about being rosy-cheeked while I sleep (sorry husband of seven years, but I don't), I'd dab on some Tata Harper Volumizing Lip and Cheek Tint, $35. It's a sheer cream blush that feels almost serum-like because it's made with skin-plumping Spanish lavender and lipoamino acids. It's designed to bring volume and lift back to the cheeks in a way that's similar to injectable fillers. (For a sheer wash of color, pick the Very Charming shade; for a more noticeable flush, opt for Very Naughty.)

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstars on the Go, $55, is a duo with similarly impressive skin care benefits. The cheek and lip color contains a moisturizing berry complex that increases your skin's natural hyaluronic acid production. Meanwhile, the highlighting cream, which you can use on cheekbones and eyelids, is packed with anti-aging apricot seed oil. Dab on a little of both shades for a look that's so ethereal and pretty, it's practically cherubic.

24-Hour Eye Enhancers
Disclaimer: Sleeping in eye makeup -- any kind of eye makeup -- will probably earn you a scolding from your ophthalmologist. However, there are some formulas that do more than just let you create the perfect cat eye. They hydrate and protect your lids and even promote healthy lash growth.

Sisley Phyto-Twist Eye, $50, is a chubby liner and shadow crayon that contains green tea and camellia extract for moisture and antioxidant protection. Similarly, Grande Naturals GrandeLiner, $44.95, is made with a lash-boosting complex that will make your lashes grow longer and thicker in just four to six weeks. The formula is also waterproof -- once it dries, you can forget about it -- which makes taking it off at the end of the day even easier to avoid.
