The life cycle of bangs: "Straight across bangs will evolve into side bangs eventually and side bangs will become face framing layers, but you have to be patient," says Townsend. (We're talking three to four months here.) A hair supplement like Viviscal, he says, can help speed up the process.

In the meantime, keep awkward strands out of your face with bobby pins. "Exposed bobby pins are still chic, and this year I'm really into rose gold and silver pins," says Townsend.

Graciano adds to check out trends on the catwalk -- experiment with everything from sleek braids to a fashion-forward disheveled look.

Don't be afraid to enlist the help of your hairstylist, either. "Once your bangs have grown past your eyes, they can usually be blended into face-framing layers and disguised easily," says Maine.

At the end of the day, it's just hair. It will grow back. "While it's true that bangs do require a bit of extra maintenance, they are also an amazing way to change up your look without committing to anything too drastic," says Townsend.

Maine agrees. "They do require styling and maintenance but they aren't as bad as you may think to grow them out. Plus they are probably one of the hottest trends for this '70s-inspired year of fashion we have ahead."
