NYFW Runway Look of the Day

Our favorite looks, straight from NYFW 2013 catwalks

Orange Lips & Bright Whites
The LWD (little white dress) is warm weather's answer to the LBD. This one from Nanette Lepore's Spring 2014 runway show is perfect if you aren't prone to spilling on yourself (drinking coffee and driving is a skill we're still trying to master). Hair that looks unfussy -- but in reality probably took forever to style -- and minimal eye makeup makeup the orangey-red lipstick pop (trend alert: orange lips were all over the S/S 14 runways). Just be sure to remove the lipstick before undressing, or you'll end up with that hot trend all over your LWD.

Frills & Studs
Every now and then, you've just gotta love an unapologetically girly dress like this number from the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2014 runway. The designer sent a lot of stunners down the runway -- no surprise -- but this one had us dreaming of a grownup prom. Very matchy-matchy (see: coral lip, earrings, nude clutch, pumps). The sleek hair and smudgy purple-grey eye keeps the look ultra-romantic but not too cutesy. But our prom date would definitely be wearing the matching bowtie and cumberbund.

Office Ready Separates
American designer Tory Burch gave us a lesson in mixing prints with this look from the Spring 2014 runway. Namely, be sure the patterns are around the same size and mix fabrics/textures (you almost can't go wrong with the on-trend, subtle metallic). We're already picturing how these pieces would work overtime in our closet -- we'd wear the top with everything from jeans to skirts and use the clutch to liven up a basic outfit (totally justifying buying the look when it hits stores). The tons-of-volume hair and retro-inspired eye looks clean and fresh, making it completely wearable to the office. Side note: we need those shoes in our closet, STAT.

Prints for Days
"I'm trying to stay focused this season on making people feel happy and good, and the rainbow represents that for me," Mara Hoffman said of the bold prints and rainbow of colors she sent down her runway -- both elements the NYC-based designer is know for. Not for the faint of heart, this dress is show-stopping because a) the cut is fantastic and b) the print is insane. And we mean that in the best possible way. The dewy skin and glossy lip are just enough to let the dress take center stage, and simply slicked-back hair from the front morphs turns into a party in the back with ultra-long braids.

Bronzed Skin, Nude Lips, Perfect Hair
If Zimmerman's Spring 2014 runway was any indication, crop tops will still be around next spring (note to self: start on the crunches today). The Aussie label, know for making beautiful swimwear and resort wear, threw some metallics into the usual mix of springy florals and pastels -- and we never met a metallic we didn't like. The flirty skirt and the ruffled top in this look have a lot of volume, so the ponytail (with the side-swept fringe of our dreams) keeps it sleek. Bronzed skin and nude lips were topped off with a soft smoky eye -- a simple beauty look we can see ourselves living in come spring.
