A Splash of Carnival in Your Makeup Bag

Revlon's limited edition Rio Rush collection is the taste of tropical you've been needing

I have to admit when I first saw this pale pink lipstick I completely dismissed it, thinking it would be far too light against my fair skin. I was wrong. This is more of a sheer, pearly "topcoat" for your lips. I like to apply it over the brighter colors in the collection when I want to go for a softer look.

Sultry Samba
Summertime beauty is all about simplicity, but that doesn't mean you can't wear a bold lip color like this hot pink. Just add bronzer and ditch the rest of your makeup bag. (Your skin will thank you.)

Beach Bronze
Forget everything you worry about when it comes to bronzer: orange skin, streaky color, muddy undertones. This limited edition shade of Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator, $12.99, provides a sheer wash of warmth to your skin with a dewy finish and no fake-looking, oversized particles.

Carioca Crush
Typically I think blue nail polish is a little too '90s for me, but there's something about this bright shade of Revlon Nail Enamel, $4.99, that seems more runway than retro.

Gold Goddess
Gold confetti adds a festive topcoat to any polish you pair it with. Or you can apply multiple layers of just Gold Goddess for full-on sparkly nails du jour.

This summer all eyes will be on Brazil for the 2014 World Cup, so perhaps that's where the spark of inspiration came from for Revlon's summer 2014 makeup collection. The collection, entitled Rio Rush, draws on the vibrant, tropical colors of Brazil and will have you instantly dreaming of Carnival, shirtless soccer players and drinks on the beach. This limited edition makeup collection was designed by renowned makeup artist Gucci Westman, Revlon's global artistic director. A peek at her inspiration board for the collection revealed lots of bronzed beach babes and words like "provocative," "energy" and "texture." But personally, Revlon, you had me at Brazil.
