Post-surgery women reveal the whole truth about the most popular plastic surgery procedures -- from (ow!) recovery to (omg!) results

Lip Augmentation aka Lip Enhancement
The surgery: Lips are enhanced with dermal fillers like Restylane or Juvederm for temporary plumping, fat grafts, or permanent change with silicone.
Average cost: $1,853
Procedure time: 30 minutes or less, 2 hours or more for fat grafting
Recovery Time: 10-14 days for bruising to disappear

The Wow: Women who had dermal fillers injected worried about looking overly "done" pre-procedure, but were pleasantly surprised by their surprisingly normal appearance after the injections. "I was afraid it was too much, but after a week the swelling is gone and I love my lips! They don't look done, they look great!" one woman writes. Another satisfied filler recipient notes that she has to check to remind herself she even got a procedure done. "I cannot tell that anything is in there. It's crazy. I can touch my lips and they feel the same ... I even look in the mirror at times to make sure it's still there and sure enough, it is."

The Ow: While some women opt for permanent lip plumping with solid silicone implants, doctors advise against it because they're very difficult, and sometimes impossible, to remove. "The scariest day for me was day three ... I looked totally weird and fake and plastic," says one woman, who ultimately ended up happy with her permanent implants. One woman who opted for temporary fillers writes: "No lost sensation, no changes in speech at all, not even immediately after surgery. Only difference is when drinking out of a bottle, like a water or soda bottle, felt funny at first." Practice before dining in public!

Liposuction aka Lipoplasty
The surgery:: Removes fat, typically by suction, via a hollow tube that is passed through fatty tissue.
Average cost: $2,884
Procedure time: 1-2 hours
Recovery time: 2 days, but you'll be sore for 1-2 weeks

The Wow: After years of frustrating diets and exercise routines that net few noticeable results, women who have had liposuction say they love their new figures. "I can wear anything and not have any bulges [or] lumps of any kind. It feels so good!" one woman writes. "My results are smooth and everyday I see my old figure more and more," another adds.

The Ow: If you're under local anesthesia, you will be up and moving the next day ... but you'll also be leaking fluids for the next two, so don't rush back to work. Although this procedure has one of the quickest recovery times, you'll have to wait for swelling to go down before you see real results. "I literally have a prego belly right now from the padding! So frustrating, because I can't tell any difference other than looking fatter," one woman writes. "It's a very, very, slow process. I had no idea what I was getting myself into!" Simple things like showering and going to the bathroom will become a mission. "Take your stool softeners!" one woman warns. We'll leave it at that.

Nose Job aka Rhinoplasty
The surgery: Reshapes and/or resizes nose, corrects excessively flared nostrils, bumps in the nasal bridge or previous injuries that caused asymmetry.
Average cost: $6,775
Procedure time: 1-2 hours
Recovery time: 1 week for bandage removal, swelling is down in 10-14 days, normal activity can resume in 3-4 weeks

The Wow: "As time passes, I am more and more satisfied with my choice to get this surgery done," one reader notes. "I can officially say that I love myself and everything about me. I knew there were risks involved in surgery, but for me, those risks were worth taking." Another woman writes, "I absolutely love it ... there are days where I still need to get used to it, but all in all wouldn't take it back ... such an improvement to what I had! So happy with it!"

The Ow: The post-op period for this procedure means getting used to more uncomfortable nuisances than straightforward pain. "It is really itching under the cast, I think it's because it's all healing. I find I can raise my brows up and down and that seems to help," one reader writes. "The nose is completely bearable but my eyes are burning and watering like crazy," another reveals. Not being able to tell if your nose is running due to lingering numbness, as far as five weeks out, is another side effect. And if you get packing (gauze or cotton packs put in your nostrils to control bleeding or support the septum post-op), be forewarned: "It's very, very uncomfortable. All I wanted to do the first night was sleep, but I couldn't because of the amount of discomfort I was in. I had to take small sips of liquid to avoid choking when swallowing pills. It was scary to start coughing just from drinking water."

Tummy Tuck aka Abdominoplasty
The surgery: Removes excess skin and stretch marks after pregnancy or weight loss -- directly removing skin, fat and tightening the abdominal wall.
Average cost: $7,875
Procedure time: 2-6 hours
Recovery time: 4-6 weeks for most

The Wow: Women couldn't wait to show off their new bodies. Literally. "The freedom you feel after the belly is gone is unbelievable. Seriously, my boyfriend keeps laughing at me cause I'm naked so much." Others discuss the improvements this has had on their inner beauty. "I still feel beautiful because I know that my worth isn't in a flat belly and I feel a million times better than before," one woman notes.

The Ow: Prepare yourself for epic swelling. "When I read others' swelling stories, I [could] barely tell they are swollen. Well ... now I know what they are talking about, my waist is gone and I look like a rectangle," one woman admits. "You've seen Violet Beauregard swell into a blueberry, but you've probably never really thought about how Violet FELT as her abdomen and torso began to swell with blueberry juice. Today, I thought about it. More than that, I felt it." Also keep in mind that you won't be able to stand up straight for the first two weeks. "Coughing sucks," one woman posts in her first post-op review.

Forehead Lift/Brow Lift aka Browplasty
The surgery: Helps smooth horizontal expression lines on the forehead and vertical frown lines around the eyebrows.
Average cost: $7,875
Procedure time: 1-2 hours
Recovery Time: 2 weeks

The Wow: Women with deep, furrowed lines and wrinkles across their brow and forehead love the fresh, youthful appearance post-op. "The scar on my forehead is INVISIBLE. I love my new hairline. Before, I used to have high temple and now that area is covered by hair," one woman writes. "It also softened the frown lines I had on my forehead that used to make me look angry. I'm so happy and would do it all over again!"

The Ow: This procedure garnered mixed feelings from those who experienced it -- many weren't sure if it was worth the time and money. "The top of my scalp is numb, which is more annoying and weird feeling than anything," one woman writes. Others had a longer list of cons. "The pros of the forehead lift is that my eyes are much wider and that is great. The cons is that now I have these huge bags under my eyes that make me look worse than before surgery." Doctors say this swelling and bruising from a brow lift can last up to six months, but if it persists beyond that time frame, they may suggest another procedure (blepharoplasty, to be exact) to remove the secondary bags and lines around the eyes.
